Messing with my groove is that apparently Cardiff is kicking off tonight. I am unsure how much weight to put behind this but all my mates in Liverpool are commenting about stupid stuff going on up there. Cardiff apparently has people meeting though this may just be loose talk. Also my brother who works in Mcdonalds in Newport said that his managers said at the first sign of trouble outside lock the doors and leave.

On a less serious note completely forgot I changed my name last night. Im stuck with this for a month now. The point was made that people shouldnt change there names especially when everyone refers to them by their original ones anyway.

This right here? This is messing with my groove. People ignore the Met - the recorded beating a man in a wheelchair Met, the proven liars Met, the kettling and making riots out of peaceful protests Met - triggered this whole thing by shooting a man who wasn't even close to the handgun he'd stashed in a sock, of all places, let alone touching it. And then they released a typical Met statement of complete bullshit about how he'd shot at them first that contradicted eyewitnesses, their own involved officers and the IPCC report afterwards, because they are all pieces of shit. The Police do NOT need more power, they do a perfectly good job of murdering people and abusing that power already.

People in the shittiest parts of our society spend decades being told they are the reason we suck, demonised as 'chavs' and less than human while having all the blame for the situation they're in placed firmly on them instead of the policy makers who put them there, they have hordes of middle and upper class fucks with their 'Fuck you got mine' attitudes telling them they could get out of this shithole if they only tried harder, and have all their avenues of expressing themselves taken away and ignored, and then when they do the only thing they have left to do and lash out you want all them killed or imprisoned for life?

Before you jump to any conclusions here I'm not condoning the firebombings or what have you, I'm saying that people pushed past their limits will sometimes break spectacularly, especially with a very volatile ignition source (Duggan's murder).


Also the shit being thrown onto my facebook feed isn't helping. I mean, it's not as bad as some screenshots I've seen, of some people saying 'hurr I bet this happening at the same time as the movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes is released isn't a coincidence' and actually meaning that, but it's still eyeopening. Hey, you're poor and oppressed, you deserve death!

I would point out that this has absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever, especially outside of London. It's opportunistic looting, and not related in any way to a protest against what the MET have done. It's kids looking to get free stuff, thinking they can get away with anything.

I'm confused how the shooting of a known gang member by police who were there to arrest him and were fired upon is a 'volatile ignition source'?

Thats all the news I have seen on what _might_ have started these flash-riots, but I'd like to hear what you guys much closer and most likely more involved have to say about it.

Also, isn't it illegal for any civilians to have guns in your country?

I'm not trying to seem a dumb yank here, that is just what I have seen/heard as related, and if you guys could reply I would appreciate it.

I think the point is that he didn't (or so it appears) actually fire on them. Which would mean that the police took it upon themselves to shoot him. The family of the guy weren't given answers so they protested. A bunch of wasters joined in and it kicked off. Then cos it was happening in London people started doing it everywhere. It has nothing to do with him now, it is just mindless thugs causing chaos for the sake of it...

Yes it is illegal to have guns in this country, so he would have been arrested and in a lot of trouble for having one, even if it was well concealed and he never went to get it out. I doubt he would have had a license for it at any rate anyway...

On a personal note, I can't find anything that says that anything has happened in Cardiff...

The Met released a statement saying they were fired upon first, and officers felt in danger.

The IPCC investigation determined that while Duggan had a handgun, it was stashed in a sock for the entire attempted arrest. Three shots were fired, two into Duggan and one into a policeman's radio. All three were bullets used and fired from police firearms. Yet another incident of the Met lying flat out about people dying. They are the worst police force in the entire country.

None of which means he should be dead now. Prison, of course, dead? No.

Thanks for the info guys, the stuff I had read said the police were fired upon and so fired upon Duggan, killing him, and there was questions on who had fired first, but nothing indicating Duggan had not fired at all.

And Illy, just fyi, that whole black = monkey is a much longer 'life' than just the internet, and seems to have been stirred up again since Obama started running for POTUS.

Quite honestly it's not as important who's in the right or wrong as it is important to restore order. It's really simple.

People of my parents generation, who emigrated to the UK, remember people with entirely straight faces asking them if they actually DID live in trees back home and eat only bananas. So that one I've seen before.

The Met mishandling things badly is not new; the Broadwater Farm riots (just up the road from Saturday's and back in the mid 80s) were kicked off after they arrested a guy for an expired tax disc and then proceeded to raid his home while he was banged up - his mother died of a heart attack during the raid. This led to the death of a police officer during the riot and the Met then proceeded to fit up a guy for the murder (but mainly for the crime of them not liking him because he'd getting away with stuff they hadn't been able to pin on him and him living in the area). They had the help of the baying press with that one.

This one isn't going to end well, I fear.

My primary irritation with all of this, apart from the fact that a bunch of criminal idiots have jumped at the opportunity to wreck the country, is that our Prime Minister cared enough to return the next day to a restaurant because he'd not given a tip to his waitress, but not enough to return to his country when the capital was on fire. I guess we know where his priorities lie now, if we didn't before.

Really? CNN was claiming he is back and is calling some emergency meeting of the parliment even though they are on summer break like schoolchildren.
