I was hoping that my stomach would be better by now but it isn't. I plan to rest up and sing it soothing songs all day so that it doesn't hinder my plans for Wednesday and the days after Wednesday.

Maybe it's mostly because it's not actually a discussion, more "You're stupid and brainwashed" vs "You're soulless and insensitive". In fairness, some people in there are a lot better than they used to be, but I've seen it so many times before on that board, hence the head-wall-banging.

Fair enough, it does get incredibly repetitive. I guess it comes down to the "history repeats itself" crap...besides, it is literally mental wall-banging. No-one can change anyone's opinion on the subject. I know Uni runs the occasional 'seminar'/debate thingy on the subject and while I'm sure they have potential interest value, you're either going to get a lot of people sagely nodding their heads, a lot of disgruntled people leaving, or a full-on flame war in an enclosed space. If you actually somehow managed to change the opinion of everyone there to one side (assuming a roughly even split of opinion to begin with), whatever that side happened to be, great...you managed to get 100 people to agree with you and become 'enlightened'. Now, take a look around. There's another 6 billion or so who still don't agree with you. So it's pointless, and I avoid them (and debate groups, whatever) for that very reason.

Something about an internet forum where you can have a (mostly) civil argument, though...guess it just makes the difference. Then it degenerates into non-discussion and lo and behold, I get to wave my admin wand and clean it all up. So win-win for me. :)

Probably, but they aren't doing any harm. It's kind of a standard warning. :)

But thankfully the threads don't go out of hand (beyond old feuds rearing their ugly heads) too often any more. Just goes to show I don't go in the forum itself very often though, just jump straight to threads if I see something potentially interesting. XD

Last night my upstairs neighbor's (I live in a basement apt) boyfriend (whose not on the lease I don't think) got pissy for a second time with me. They sometimes stomp around and make all calibre of noise and sometimes late at night. Well I usually give the wall a bang to let them know it's quite loud...and he freaks! I can hear him freak through the wall with a string of nasty names and comments and threats. Calling me a dick, saying he ought to come downstairs and punch me...and then of course he does nothing cause he's simply showboating for his girlfriend who is the real tenant. I always want to say to him "Yeah, that bang or two from me pissed you off did it? Well imagine me having to listen to that for two hours straight while I try to work or sleep." He doesn't get it. I was nice eons ago about it but when it happens in the middle of the night I flat out refuse to get out of bed, get dressed, go outside and upstairs...so I give the wall a bang to say "Hey, sound travels, it's loud and is disturbing me."...but even that is considered too much for this shithead. My instinct is to go up there and pummel his 20-year old face...but common sense usually wins out and I've decided that since this has happened twice, they get one more strike before I call the landlord.

Still...last night I was fuming about it.
