Looking for a job. I truly despise sitting around waiting for a call back from jobs I've applied to.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

doomed children of Mother Dark.

My damn province! They have made slight changes to the protocols for cortisone injections. Consequently I have just had to write a $1000.00 cheque for some mandatory two day refresher course which happens to fall on a weekend! It's either suck it up pay the fees and lose a weekend or no longer be able to administer cortizone and various other injectibles to patients so they really have us over a barrell. The changes really are very minor and shouldn't take two bloody days to go cover. The fact that province is conering none of the costs for this stupid thing is irksome as well. I'm not pleased!

I wish I had some exams.
After doing a degree and working for 8 years, I'm now going to have go and find myself a whole new career by the looks of it. Archaeology is just too unreliable, underpaid, and with the current looming redundancies, there is no other option - I'm just not willing to move again just to get yet another job with no real career structure, no room for progression, and a load of managers that can't find their asses with both hands.
I love doing archaeology, but I don't even feel like I'm doing that any more - when we do find anything interesting, the project is 'no longer making a profit,' so we're only allowed to excavate stuff that will be otherwise destroyed. And if, heavens forbid, we actually try and do out job properly, we get penalised for going over budget. Because, our manager costs the work based on not finding anything.
Which is absolutely fucking crazy. We were told we were facing redundancy 7 WEEKS ago now, and they have told us nothing since. I feel like taking a mattock upstairs and letting them know how I'm feeling right now.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Motivation is sadly lacking. I've been doing the same experiment for over a month. Every time I solve one problem, I run into two more. And I have to lead a health and safety meeting later. Is there anything more boring than health and safety?

While in the shared changing rooms in the dojo I do jiu-jitsu at, I saw a letter to one of the karate guys. It talked about a Quarterly Evaluation in which the instructor would evaluate the student's progress, fitness and general whatever. At the end I saw "Evaluation fee - $55".
WHAT THE SHIT? It's the instructor's job to be aware of the student's progress and knowledge. That's what they're paying him to do.
That's BS straight up. I'm not even involved in that and I'm pissed that this goes on.

Staying home from work for now with a splitting headache that is making my teeth throb I used the last of my painkillers at the weekend. Laptop usage probably isn't sensible..... I'm supposed to be going to see Star Trek tonight!

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Hope your not going to the movies, two hours of big flashing lights and a few hundred explosions and your head might melt.

Have been out of work too long, i've forgotten i was damn good at my job.
So much so that i'm starting to dread getting the interviews for the jobs i'm applying for.

I got 2 days to write 5000 words. It's managable dont get me wrong, but this is for my dissertation worth 36 credits. I've spent loads of time on all my other essays worth way less before getting to this one, and now Im veeery short on time. At least I know I've done a good job of the 3000 words I've already written, I suppose.

Same here (almost). I have 4000 words to write by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (it's almost 2 p.m. now). Which means I will be spending possibly 8-10 out of the next 26 hours at uni. sigh. Good luck with your dissertation TT.
