The most alpha move of all: don't even show up.

Very tempting. I showed up and winged / wanged / wung it. Lots of Leadership jargon questions which made me want to shoot myself. Not really sure why I'm applying for a promotion with more responsibility! Mainly because I couldn't bear one of the other applicants being my boss.

Anyhoo. I was driving home and the Grenfell charity single was on the radio and made me cry. Aside from the fact that charity singles are becoming a horrible cliché and make my skin crawl a bit the whole 80+ people suffocating and or burning to death in state owned property in this country in this day and age makes me want to take to the streets in violent bloody protest. It's unspeakably awful and the families are being pushed from the centre of the issue by the whole "everyone's cladding is wrong" stories. Gah to it all.

The insurance company just denied us coverage because its a "molar extraction"!

No, it isn't its a full scale operation with a 24 hour hospital stay! What is the point of having insurance?

Sold a new construction home a couple months ago. The people who bought it are being major Douchenozzles.

So why do I keep seeing ads for Mother Goose costumes and sexy maid outfits?

Your image search history for "cute goose chicks"?

Because "cute goslings" would probably bring up stills from The Notebook or somesuch.

Not that I think he's cute, I hasten to add. Apparently fake liberal news media thinks he is. :)

I'm worried about a friend. They sent me a message thanking me for being a good friend and then spoke about feeling like their battle with depression has come to a final stand. Things have improved for them in several ways lately so they may have meant that things are better now but the overly tone has me concerned.

Until I hear back from them I'm going to be on edge with worry.

I'm beginning to get super pissed off at these bots on FB. I've had 12 friend request in 2 days from "hot" women with text on photos advertising Go Fuck Me dot com. Like wtf? Why/how does my name pop up for these bots to send this shit to me? None of these requests have mutual friends of mine. Super annoying

I've had 2 as well. Wondering what search history me and BK may have in common.

I was right to worry about my friend. Finally got onto her this morning and she admitted she very nearly attempted suicide last night.

Now I'm stuck between not knowing what to do and not having anyone to bring on board to help with this.

They need to talk to someone qualified, like a counsellor or doctor. They probably shouldn't be left alone, either.

But I'm not saying anything that Lifeline or a good website (beyondblue et al) doesn't already say.

You're married to someone who might be handy in this situation. :)

My friend lives in Indiana. The only possible support people I can contact are her family her in Queensland (who are notoriously horrid people) or her boyfriend but his Nan died two days ago on his birthday (his grandmother died suddenly last month too and it's his first time dealing with a family death) so not sure whether to tell him his girlfriend is thinking suicidal thoughts. Plus I don't really know him at all beyond sharing the occasional meme.

Twitter was helpful. I put out a call for local services in the Gibson County area and received several helpline and prevention services numbers which I've forwarded to my friend. She's promised to call them but idk. I wanted to be able to pass her number onto a service and have them call her but I couldn't find a way of requesting contact from outside of the States. It's night there now I'm pretty sure and she's promised to text me in the morning. I hate this. I really really hate this.

Wow, that sucks, Kel. If you do need to like call said helplines yourself, I believe Skype lets you call international freephone numbers (like our 1800 ones) no matter where you are in the world (and for free, too). That might be a way to get them to contact your friend directly?

Not knowing the boyfriend I don't *know* what to do there, but I'd say he's the best bet for in-person support right now and I can safely say that I'd rather be aware that my girlfriend is suicidal ahead of time - because the alternative would ultimately be worse to go through, even if he's already upset over his Nan. But yeah, I appreciate that without knowing him yourself it can be hard to make that call, especially if he may not be in a state to offer the *proper* support. Plus, he might know someone else who can help (a close friend, for example) even if he can't.

I don't know if there's anything I can do, but I'm in Gibson county all week. My wife is a director at the YMCA summer camp here.

If there's anything I can do, let me know. You can message me on fb if you want.

If she lives in a place where there is a mobile crisis team, contact them.

Also, you are not solely responsible for this. Please do alert her boyfriend. It might hurt your friend's feelings, but this is a suicidal situation.

Went up to the cottage to relax and enjoy Muskoka for the long weekend and Canada's 150th...only to be absolutely fucked completely over by the amount of rain we've had this year. Which meant the blackflies and mosquitos were still VERY present (usually by the time of year they have lessened and aren't too much of a bother with some bug spray on)...and when I say present, I mean: Going outside to do ANYTHING (even if it was just to get something from the car to bring into the cottage) meant you were a verifiable FEAST for thousands of the little stinging bastards.

So we went to the cottage...to stay inside for 3 days and play boardgames and watch TV.

SIGH.

Sounds like my SO's parents garden. They have a lot of fruit trees, but going out is basically setting out an all-you-can-eat buffet for the mosquitoes.
