The dilemma of how one would fight a 200lb jaguar.

...fucking reddit....

That's a pretty fat Jaguar.

This reminds me of Bernie from Rooster Teeth claiming that he (humans) could fight any large predator. I can't recall if he was just talking about big cats or bears and such as well. I remember listening to those podcasts and being stunned, at how ignorant you have to be, to think you have a serious chance of surviving an encounter with an animal designed to kill large prey.

A 40 kilo German Shepperd can royally fuck you up. A 3-400 kilo Tiger would just straight up destroy a room full of people.

A puma? What in Sam Hell is a puma!?

...Didn't I just tell you to stop makin' up animals, Grif?

It's a game of attrition. Now she says she is going to ask the court to make me pay her lawyer fees or at least most of them. It's so hard to get back up when your legs keep getting kicked out from under you. Just want this over

Just because she wants something doesn't mean she's going to get it. Make your lawyer work for you. I know it's a taxing process, but just wanting it over is (in practical terms) a useless desire. Want it to go exactly how long it takes for your outcome to be optimal.

You know, GH just if she does smth like that make sure you have ALL your divorce-gripe-related posts saved somewhere. You may actually be able to provide coherent record of all your efforts to be reasonable and accomodate her to settle things without getting lawyers involved. ( I wouldn't recommend actually disclosing the posts verbatim, but you can use the back-up to keep your chronology straight.)

First thing, I'm hardly one to advice you, but I can't watch this evolving in such a way anymore while keeping quiet, I have to add my voice to the council aswell, even if it's just to increase the count of people who think you should act.

I don't know anything bout US laws, but this whole case of yours seems like total bullshit, I mean, there's only very little balance and justice to it, it's just so far from being fair. I feel sorry for you, you certainly don't deserve this. It doesn't seem that your ex sees you as something else than gold mine, you should realise this and act with regard to the fact. I doubt she will stop trying to get as much money from you as possible unless you show some sturdiness and agression.

Yeah have all the text battles with her as well. I just hope that I can show my attempts to help more strongly than she can play the poor destitute mother sinking in financial squalor.

Trying, but she is a strong personality and aggression is met with an equal helping of resistance (I hired the lawyer for mediation, thought una had a good point earlier, and my ex, being forced to bring in her own, is now biting back with comments saying I'll pay for it)

I know, just feel worried since I am the higher wage earner and the male. Traditionally not a good side in this battle.

Yeah I hear you. I don't know what's more likely than the other, and I'm sure the unknown itself must be wearing on you. All I'm really saying is (recognizing that it must be exhausting emotionally and otherwise) try to keep expediency at the bottom of your list of priorities, because it won't serve you in the long run. I know on top of that you're doing your best to be a good guy -- and I agree that's the right thing to do -- but your conscience has to make room for practical self preservation. Especially since her conscience -- as far as we are privy -- seems askew at the moment.

Anyway, I also know venting isn't always the same thing as asking for advice, so grain-of-salt whatever you want. I do think I'm on point re: nixing the "just get it over with" impulse though.

I think we are on the same page Worry. I am not going to let her win extra without a fight. That is why, in addition to being given unable to meet her demands, I am just going whole hog and bringing the lawyer into mediation without giving mediation alone a chance. She won't change her mind at this rate and for my own sanity I need this settled.

You are frankly in a position to out lawyer her. Let it drag on and when her retainer runs out she will be forced to be more reasonable. Also, you may make more, but that gets balanced by the assets you let her keep and the debts you are paying for. Track everything.

Right!
Without tools or random objects or a detailed knowledge of jaguar anatomy, it just seems to me that we're dead.
Wait... Kicking... What if I kicked it in the face a lot... Would that break a lunge? A jaguar could only attack face forward, a human can bring legs into play without making their face vulnerable... Tho on the other hand... Fangs...
Hmmm...

Jaguars are very adept at bringing their legs into play to rip at the bellies or backs of what they're fighting. So standing and kicking is out.

Best strategy might be to fall on your back and kick legs at jaguar, fully accepting that the jaguar might seize the leg and start dragging. At that point, kicking with the other leg and doing one's best to avoid being overwhelmed is the back up plan that hopefully gets you back to the first plan until the jaguar decides to give up or to actually kill you.

There are videos of bears tossing 300 lb logs like pillows, gorillas stretching car tires like rubber bands, and hyenas cracking bones easily. No sane person should want to fight a large animal unarmed. It's an awful lot of pain and recovery even if you win. There would have to be a life changing amount of money (millions) and a guarantee of no death to make this even a real consideration.

Anyone who says a human could fight a large animal probably doesn't fight at all. I have considerable trouble handling an old ex-NFL lineman (mid 50s in age) and I've years of MMA experience plus being six foot and 190 lbs in size. He has 100 lbs on me and enough strength to bench 400+ lbs (used to be 500+). A gorilla would throw me into a wall, tear a limb off, and sniff at my corpse.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Gust, if you get a status quo you can live with, paying for her lawyer will be the best money you ever spent aside from paying for your lawyer.

Brain damage can be hard to come back from. I think its a question of rapidity of treatment?

Our treadmill died :p I guess the outhouse wasn't the ideal location for it after all. It just goes beep-beep-beep-phfieuwwwww. And just when I had nudged myself to start using it again.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.
