This is getting better and better.. the unpaid bills and reminders of unpaid bills just keep coming in and nobody's even remotely willing to even talk to us. Except the lawyer, who could only tell us that yes, my mom will have to pay off all the dept or at leats a good portion of it. He was also nice enough to point out that we're seriously freakingly poor and how could one live like that? So epecially now that my mom's kicked that idiot husband of hers out she's entitled to this and that kind of help, except nobody's feeling like doing their job or pointing out what papers we need or even willing to tell us where to hand those papers in. Also, there's lots of screaming and threatening going on at home ever day.

Meanwhile, stupid has already found a new apartment which he can move into the week after the next and leave us here sitting on the verge of getting homeless. I can't believe the extent of how much he's been lyint to everyone and also can't believe the fucking luck he's got - we're not even close to finding a new place to live while he's sighned a contract on a new apartment already. I'm alternating between being so fucking angry and totally hopeless. What's making it worse is that thanks to my selective mutism I have to fight for every word I say to a stranger, which is even worse on the phone, but I can't just go there personally, because you need an appointment, but it seems impossible to get one, and I don't want to have to work myself into enough anger to become aggressive - while that'd make speaking easier it would make everything else worse *sigh*

Anyway.. on to trying to work up enough courage and voice to call the lawyer and ask for help..

Given that site also propagates the anti-vaccines movement (among other things), I wouldn't believe a single friggin' word of that article. In fact, drinking coke on a daily basis is probably better for your health in the long run than taking the advice of sites like that.

Anyway, just write down the conversation with the lawyer and rehearse it a few times. Read it out loud. I hate making phonecalls to people i don't know and that works for me quite well.
but are they worth preserving?

Yeah, that's what I usually do as well, it certainly helps to plan out what to say in advance. And then, when I finally found the courage to call the lawyer wasn't even there, haha. Now, to balance off the somewhat good news that finally someone's at least listening, we've got an appointment to take alook at a new apartment today, and another one later this week. I wish mom would be more consistent in that matter - she says she wants him out and away from anything concerning finances or other important decisions, but she keeps dragging him along. Thank whatever universal will there be she didn't take him along to the lawyer's office.. :rofl:

It was a government job in my field with decent pay, good hours, nice location and excellent benefits. It was also for a ministry that sees less budget cuts than most.

One of the only places I'd gotten through the majority of the interviews (there's 5 for this place) and lost out to someone else.

My copy of The Crippled God ended on page five hundred something. And then it picked up the story again on page four hundred. I think the book is trying to tell me that I've missed something important in that part. Another hundred pages of awsum missing a few chapters down the line too.
Hopefully I can get a replacement tomorrow...

Finally finished my run of the last three Saints Row games with the phenomenal IV. Why is this in the bad times thread? Cause of how disappointing the final boss fight ended up being after all the buildup.

It was the second disappointing moment from the game and stung worst than the first one (flying to the top of the skybox after getting the Death From Above power and the 'high enough drop causes a nuke to go off on impact' upgrade, falling onto the very last enemy outpost in the game, seeing the mushroom cloud go up and then as soon as that vanished having the enemies spawn in as they hadn't loaded until then) because the stuff before it was the first time I'd had that crazed grin of ridiculousness you get from the Saints Row games. I had it in The Third with the tank falling from the sky mission, with the Mayor reveal, with Murderbrawl XXXI and the music choice for the final decision at the least, but that was the first time in IV. Even as much as the gameplay in IV is more fun.

Just watched "Too big to fail" for the first time.

In 2008, when the whole thing was afoot I was still in Uni. Taking "development theory" course, as part of my polisci minor.

Reading about people as far back as 1910s warning about the very thing happening that was happening around us. Reading "shock doctrine", about the man-made "Asian flue" of Pacific economies. About the great and wonderful things the IMF does.

This brought it all back, and more.
