I finally managed to root my Nook without half bricking it, but I cant get the Google Market app to work. Without the app it is just a rooted e-reader. *sad panda*

Well, nothing *usually* happens, though if you do it and your microwave fails it will have voided your warranty. That, and it is theoretically possible to damage/reduce the life of your microwave by putting metal in it (such as a fork) - I have seen exactly one (1) microwave catch on fire because of the fork-in-the-microwave thing...but that was because the fork was resting on a paper towel at the time. It's a bit like electronic/transmitting devices and aeroplanes, really; the safety warnings are there due to a mix of "just in case" and "because the public already thinks this".

I didn't say 'put something that reflects microwave radiation in a microwave next to a cell phone', I said putting metal in microwaves doesn't cause them to explode. In fact, it is suggested that if you are cooking something in your oven and need to cook something else that requires crust browning, using an all metal pan in your microwave is a way to do it.

It is never the metal that is the problem (except aluminum foil which has some weird properties), but it is the metal reflecting the microwave which then causes other stuff to heat faster than it otherwise would.

For instance, you can put a ceramic bowl of soup in a microwave, with a spoon in it, and heat it faster than if you just had the bowl and soup.
