fuck, I wont get to see my mum before she goes to England to be with my grand pa when he dies (or tries to, not sure if she'll make it in time), and she is staying for at least 2 months as well. Now I'm on a train into town trying not to burst in to tears ;)

I'm going to be the socially non-adjusted idiot here, but:

Why is not seeing your mom worth crying over? It's a great act of love that she's going so far and so quickly to see your granddad. With luck, she'll make it there in time and they'll have some time together. It's sad he's in that situation, but wish her a safe and speedy travel and be happy that she's able to go and has you waiting for her when she returns in eight weeks.

Eight weeks isn't a big deal at all.

Sorry to hear about that Centz, I hope she makes it there in time. I know it can be upsetting, but all you can do is be a source of comfort for your mother now when she needs it, even if that can only be over the phone for the time being.

It is several years ago now, but I had to drive my mother to the hospital on short notice the night my grandmother died. while I am pretty useless in emotional situations in general, I know that just being there for my mother that night, and the next few days was a huge help for her. I know that my sister was more upset than i was, cos she lived in America at the time and couldn't get back immediately to be with my mum.

it is 4:30 AM I have a flight at 3:30 PM, and I won't be back here for 4 about 4 months.
I still need to make a financial statement for my rez student council for an entire year, pack, and submit a paper I just finished revising.

on a lighter note of things, I'm still angry at Bioware. how is it that my laptop can load up Dragon age (a gem released in 2009), but is not good enough for Mass effect? (released in 2007)

I can't say if either game's a gem, having not played them beyond the first menu (DA) and a CTD on startup (ME)

I tend to lean on the side of ME, as well. Though I didn't like ME2 as much as ME (don't kill me, Loki!). DA was pretty good (haven't got around to DA2, yet), but it still lacked a certain 'something' to really bring on the blast-from-the-past-with-more-modern-graphics that they were going for...
