This day has turned to utter shit. My department head emailed everyone in the program yesterday about applications to finishing school (our university only offers the first 2 years of the engineering program, we complete the rest at another school in the city). The deadline for said application is today which struck me as a bit soon but it's a simple paper with 4-5 slots you fill in so I didn't think anything more of it. As some may know I'm a transfer student to my current school with my first year courses accredited to another university, this made me wonder if I needed to submit further documentation (such as a transcript from my first school) so I called the place I'm applying to. Turns out I was supposed to send them an "early acceptance" application when I first started so that they could (upon acceptance) save me a spot in my program of choice for the Fall term I would begin. This wasn't done as no one at my current school bothered to tell me and as I was classified a 2nd year student I didn't receive the appropriate email every 1st year in my program did about this form. As you can guess my program of choice has zero space and due to it being among the most popular there is no way I can even hope on a waiting list because there are guaranteed to be a lot of people on it ahead of me. The result of all this has been a shrug of, "Oh well that sucks," from most everyone I've talked to and the advice to apply for Fall 2012... which means my graduation has been delayed another full year.

Just once I would love for my schooling to go according to plan. No mix ups, no missed forms, no problems that only I seem to get. This sucks.

Can't work out in the 19F worksite because I need a training class. Normally I wouldn't complain about not working in sub freezing temps but... Training class is only 3 hours and starts at 12:30. Work ends at 4:30... Looks like I go back and stare at the wall for an hour.

On a similar note to Anomander's, my schooling seems to be determined to mess me up as well. Had to ditch a course I REALLY wanted to do today because, well, yeah, there's still no sign of me ever getting a computer I can actually do assignments on. I had a concept and everything I needed, except for the means to realize it. So I spent four hours at another course running over to the first looking for an opportunity to talk the teacher into allowing me to hand in the assignment at some as yet unknown to me time in the future, but always missing the chance. So I got me a severe headache for spending four hours drawing nude people until my head spun and I couldn't look straight ahead. Then I missed my bus. And the train.
THEN I got into an argument with my mom which ended with her accusing me of not having worked and brought money home in the time between school and college.. That was, what? Two years ago? With me sending out applications whenever I heard of an opportunity to work? While working nearly every day at my mom's tailoring atelier at that? And not getting paid? After she threw me out and I missed the application date for college because of her temper? I'm far, faaar away from being an angel, but please..

Looks like this year has started with a big pile of suck. Hopefully it improves.

At the evacuation centre I was in, I spoke to a lot of people who had seen everything they had except the clothes on their backs go under water. A lot didn't even have insurance - especially the people from the caravan parks. Not that most house insurances here cover flood damage - arseholes.

But the worst was when one of my neighbours told me about the family in the corner who were the ones spoken about on the TV for the last day. They were being rescued by boat when their 4 year old boy slipped overboard and was swept away as they watched.

Kind of puts everything else into perspective, doesn't it?

I know this isn't terribly relevant, what with the floods, but this is why I'm feeling down.

There's this girl called Anneliese, or Annie for short. We met a few months ago and we really hit it off. We share the same interests, we enjoy each others company and we just click. Great friends-and we still are-but I was hoping that we might achieve something bigger. A relationship, yeah.

So I got a whole lot of advice from friends, debated long and hard-and I just went with it. I met up with her, and we did our usual thing-talking and laughing-then I pulled her aside. I liked her more than a friend; we had fun together. Did she feel anything for me? I figured it would be a yes or no answer. Not quite.

She said that she wasn't sure, because she liked someone else (that I happened to know, not that she'd tell mer who). However, she hasn't told that person that she likes him, so we're kind of in limbo at the moment. We both agreed that we wouldn't make it awkward for each other and that neither of us was obligated to "wait" for one another but I still feel pretty crap. This is the second girl that's turned me down. Not that I'm getting jaded or cynical or anything, its just I would've preferred she just didn't feel about me that way. But like I said, it's not that simple. And I won't see her for a while, at least not for the next 2 weeks. Sigh...I hope things get better.

My brother's girlfriend, who lives with a sister who has 2 kids, one of which being a new baby, have lost everything, including their house (underwater over the roof) in the floods. Luckily they are all alive and out safely, but they are not a rich family and they are uninsured for this My brothers girlfriend is a student (extremely intelligent one too) and she may not be able to afford to study this year It is just amazing the damage that has been caused in QLD.

What interests me is that a family living in a HOUSE is still 'not rich' by Aussie standards... Well, I can understand that. Why not insured? Australia is like the lowest pits of hell on earth when it comes to natural disasters and venomous killer animals.

Your Government should really do some sort of bailouts for the victims. I know ours did some (not lush, but better than nothing) financial aid for flood victims from summer 2010. Oz is a rich country, surely victims won't be left to far for themselves?

At the end of the day, you can still thank fate you weren't born in Bangladesh. Most of you will keep their lives. Though I admit the 19 year old girl that got her foot stuck in some rocks and died in her friends' arms who were trying to keep her head above water and risked drowning themselves - that shit just has to hurt. Not like it's any better or worse than the other dead people.

My bike seat was stolen 2 weeks ago. It was kinda funny, every other bike on the rack had no wheels, handlebars, or pedals either. But mine was just the seat.

I know its not flooding like in Aus but we have been warned there could be flooding... On that I heard today that 70% of Queensland is under water...70% of Queensland is the same size as my entire country!!! WTF???
