Contract is up on the house I am sharing with people and am fed up of sharing with them so am getting a small flat by myself for a while then hopefully buying in a year/half a year.

Where are you thinking of moving to ?
I might be able to offer some sage advice as to the hidden pitfalls of certain areas.
Are you going to stay in the Cathays/Heath area ? Your previous post said something about taking a flat regardless ? Don't do it if the flat is in Adamsdown, Splott or Riverside. You're going to be a copper right? You do not want to be living amongst your best "customers".
I suppose it does depend on how much dosh you are willing to splash out. If you want to stay central, where you are is pretty good (although it's full of student vermin), Pontcanna is v nice, Canton is ok, Grangetown/ Bay area can be either awesome or resemble the Lebanon 200 yards down the road.
Abuse your new found status as a pig and research the burglary and car crime stats for the areas you are interested in

Although if you do this you are stepping on the slippery slope towards becoming Harvey Keitel in Bad Leuitenant

Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.

Every time I see that avatar of yours Saddle, I think you're Mezla in stead. It's quite confusing.

Yeh, a friend sent it to me along with some others he'd found, Truffle Shuffle vs Picard is awesome although I quite liked this one as well.

Yeah want to stay in the Heath area and definitely want to avoid Splott etc. May end up lodging with a family nearby for a bit til I can afford to buy, which will be soon, so I don't need anywhere permanent right now. Currently in the process of throwing away half my stuff. Also, I'm actually based nearer Merthyr rather than in Cardiff itself so I don't need to worry about living near all the friendly people I deal with on a day to day basis.

Don't the police provide accommodation for recruits anymore ?
My aunt was CID and used to lecture up at Bramshill, although she trained in South Wales and i'm sure she had digs in Rumney.

I've been trying to organise stuff for my birthday, but it's been a complete crapfest. People are busy, gone on holiday, or I can't reach them. So I'm postponing until next week.
I really feel like shit right now.

There's a scratch in my left eye, just above the pupil.
can't wear a lense in that eye, it's incredibly sensitive to changes in lighting and the eyeball is more red than white. Worse, it will take several days to heal. It sucks.

I just washed my passport. Stupid Passport, what are you doing in my laundry? You're not even clothes!

You do laundry? Scratch one theory ...

Perhaps your passport was so grungy it attained sentience and sought to 'end it all'?
