It's like feng shui, except with lots of pickled herring.

Put a trailer in the back yard.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

So i work in a very small office, 7 people in total. Fairly laid back, if people are running late they generally call one of the 3 managers (we're a company head office so of the 7 people, 3 are the board of directors, rest of us make up the local unit, other units based elsewhere in UK)

This morning 2 of the managers are running late. One of them comes in, goes into the other managers office, shuts the door for a bit while they talk. This sort of thing hardly ever happens.

They ask the rest of us into the boardroom.

So there's six of us in the boardroom and they tell us that the 3rd manager took his own life on Saturday night.

He would have been 56 on Sunday. Leaves behind a wife and two young kids (both under 6). Was financially secure, no marriage problems, just....gone.

I know we re-emphasise it on here again and again, but for the love of FUCK if you're going through problems PLEASE talk to someone about it, whether your male or female. If you feel like you can't talk to your partner, reach out to a friend or something. Please.

Don't do this to yourself and your family. i'm just kinda dazed and numb, worked beside this guy for 8 years. Can't even fathom what his wife will be going through, and the kids are too young to really comprehend.
meh. Link was dead :(

Someone at the falconry centre's wife took her own life last year (a year ago today, actually) - and I remember talking to a friend at the time who's field is neuropsychology - because I was feeling all that, the numbness and shock. Her take on suicide was that it's not about having nobody to talk to or lacking the option, it's usually a case of feeling (wrongly) that everyone would be better off without them and the burden they feel they are to them, which is why they don't necessarily talk to anyone.

It's horrible, and probably there's never any clear cut answer as to what takes someone there. I hope you are all okay.

I'm so sleepy I'm basically falling asleep at work. Can't keep my eyes open. Damn you brain, if you insist on keeping em awake through a splitting headache all night, don't pretend I didn't try to get enough sleep. Ugh. I'm basically seeing double and that's not due to working on two screens.

It appears I forgot my headphones at the Board office after my hearing. I'll need to buy new ones on the weekend before my 5 hour trip to Sudbury on Monday

Headphones something hearing something ... what was that you say, sonny?

Sudbury - interesting name for a prison. I gather it was a successful parole board hearing?
Good for you, now you can become a productive member of society yadda yadda ...

I keep staying up too late watching Jaws movies and then I'm scared a shark is going to get me in the dark on the way to bed.

Only need Jaws 3 and I'll have had the full house within a few weeks. They're all so terrible apart from the original.

After a long struggle and generous application of duck tape my wireless adapter finally fell apart completely. Now my home PC has no internet until I get a chance to buy another one. Oh joy.

Zero sleep from coughing and now coughing stuff up. Chest is rattly and horrible and I'm almost continually breathless. Lovely start to the year.

Do you have the over the counter equivalent of Mucinex? The active ingredient is guaifenesin.

It's strong stuff and needs a lot of water drinking to stay hydrated during its effects, but it will boost your coughs to the level required to get the snot out of your lungs. I've been using it off and on for the last week due to the awful cold my father gave me just before the turnover to the New Year. Stay within range of a bathroom sink and mostly upright - the snot will come out in bunches. But I was able to sleep after two nights of not breathing and awful snoring that bugged my partner something terrible (I'm deaf so I don't hear things at night when my hearing aids are off).
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Thanks Amph, I'll have a look into that :( I've been doing the head over a bowl of steaming water thing and drinking plenty, it's starting to loosen but it'd be nice to hurry it along.
