A friend has been having suicidal thoughts for a long time now and did several dry runs over the last week while texting me about them. I tried to find a mobile crisis unit in his far away area, but couldn't. So I ended up being referred to the police by a psychiatric screening service and they did a wellness check on him. His family now knows due to his step mother being present while that happened.

He's furious, hates me, and is spewing hate and threats to me.

At least he's going to be alive to hate me.

He wasnt texting you about his dry runs for shits n giggles if he’s at all serious about it, so either he isn’t, and he’s just an idiot and deserves whatever crap he catches for playing that game on a friend, or he is and that’s typical ‘cry for help but reserve the right to pretend it wasn’t a cry for help’ . Your conscience is clear either way.

on the compensation claim form they list 2 oslo airport, neither of which I flew into.
so if I submit the form with the wrong arrival airport they'll likely drag their heels and try screw me.

now in my head entering the departure airport and fucking flight number is more than adequate, because that flight goes to fucking gardermoen.

No risk no reward worry. Everyone knows that's the smoothest way to shave your junk.

Just reconnected with a girl(now woman) from back in high school on FB that I haven't spoken to/seen since probably 99. She told me to call her and she almost immediately broke down in tears telling me all her woes(some serious shit to:dead grand child, lost job/home, would off herself if not for her 2 yr old) and I wasn't prepared for it. Now she has my number and I'm cringing how future calls are gonna go. Not unsympathetic but fuck me give me a moment atleast.

BK, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but sometimes hearing about your life is really entertaining.

Thirded. Or you could set her number to block so it doesn't even ring through when she calls.

The advice to block the number or ghost this person isn't good advice. If there is a mobile crisis unit (psychiatric assistance) in the area, contact them, relay every bit of the story, give the phone number of the person, and if you have an address give it.

If there is not such a group, then have the police do a wellness check. At that point, you're OK to walk away knowing you've done your best for that person and the two year old that's dependent on the suicidal person.

I just went through something very similar with a good friend of mine who now hates me for the embarrassment of the wellness check, but at least he's alive.

It's incredibly tough to deal with and neither you or I have the professional skills or the resources to immediately help the person ourselves. Good luck.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I applied to sublease a coop apartment last month, and have been nervously awaiting news. The board met yesterday to consider my application — and they deferred it!

The former occupant smoked in the apartment, so the owner had it cleaned and repainted. Despite that, the board is saying that there is still an odor of smoke in the floor and it will need to be totally redone.

And now my application will be in limbo — neither approved nor rejected — for at minimum another month.

Infuriating and anxiogenic. I don't care if the move-in date needs to be pushed due to work. I just want Schrodinger's Application to have a confirmed state!

I dunno if this helps, but I approve of your application.

Would you live in the same apartment building as me?

EDIT: After talking with the owner, it appears the building didn't even inspect the apartment after the recent cleaning/painting was completed! Their concerns may have already been alleviated!

Get another smoker in?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Sometimes the transit is rage-inducing not because of actual transit woes, but because Construction sites for condo's where the transit has to go in volume...are overplaying their mandate and taking up part of the road with their gear when they technically aren't allowed, and depending on the fact that no one will be bothered enough to report them...beyond which they treat fines like that with a flippant hand wave...but yes, fucking my trip to work from the 1 hour it usually is to 2.5hours...not remotely cool, and I WILL be complaining to the city...hope you like that tasty fine you assholes.

It's fine. The years of your life that you will lose to passive smoking are at the end of your existence anyway, so no need to worry about it now. Plus who likes being old? Old age is for oxygenarians.

And, come to think of it, oxygen is exactly what you wont have anyway.

I should stop doing all these edits all the time. People will start to think I am fickle.

Not that I particularly mind, mind you, revising an opinion is the sign of an open and informed mind.
