OMG, I would have totally agreed. I went over my estimated taxes with a fine toothed comb though and thankfully found my error (one that estimated around $1000 /mo more than I would have actually owed). Hence one can see why this entire weekend I was completely losing my shit. So much relief.

Hang in there DS! I've been beside myself the last few days worrying about friends and family in the Houston area. I know 2 families with young children whose houses are flooding and there is no electricity. The mayor boasts that they have Some rescue boats out there, but it's just not enough for the people stranded.

I have shingles!

What the heck? I mean, I've always got a lot of stressful stuff going on, but seriously?!

The right side, just below the underarm, went numb last night, along with a large section of the right side of my right boob. It was weird and super annoying, but I thought maybe my bra was too tight and the wire was cutting off a nerve or something, so I switched to a sports bra and waited for it to recover. Well, today, it's not any better, so I go to the mall after work to see about buying a looser bra. While I am in the change room, I notice this weird red patch on my back. Now, I can't really see it that well because it is on my back and I have to twist around to even see it in the mirror. And my back has been really itchy the last 2 days or so. Maybe I just overdid it with the back-scratcher? But sure enough, these aren't streaky looking scratch marks. Looks more like a cluster of little bug bites. Feels kind of bumpy. So then I put all the bras back and high tail it back to the office and get the doctor who comes on shift after me to take a look. Yup! Shingles.

Booooo!

He gave me some pills though. I will probably be ok. Still sucks.

Day 5. The rain has let up for a few hours now but it's suppose to loop back around and start again in a few. Center is about 30ish miles to the northwest. Looking out the window I can see treetops still swaying, debris is littered in yards. Wind is still gusting a good 30 mph.

Math is hard, and this is why I generally don't pay cash anymore.

Math shouldn't enter into it anymore really. Almost all cash registers are pretty much fancy calculators so that all one has to do is enter the amount of money they're given to play for a bill. The register should have just told the cashier to have back 3.01, and that should have been the end of the story.

This had to have been a new employee, right? Please tell me I'm right.

Don't underestimate how cheap and resistant to change a business can be. The supermarket chain I worked for some years ago were still using a variation of an OS they got developed in the early 90s. We were basically just looking at old MS DOS on our screens. No functionality, no ability to see prior transactions, print out receipts or anything. Of course they began to implement coin machines in all the stores, so in the end the machine was doing all the counting.

Also, sometimes if you're having a long day, it's hard for your brain to break out of the mental transaction macros you're used to using when you're on autopilot.

Oh, I get that. I'm also basing this off of the DQ's in my area which do have decently modern registers.

As far as businesses being resistant to change goes, I get that. The large drugstore chain I work for still uses an as400 system for it's inventory processing. As in the 1988 platform. Sure, it's had some tweaks here and there, but come on, the tech is only 2 years younger than I am.

They will be banning cash soon for cryptocurrencies for reasons like this and it's safer for the public ( terrorists/drug dealers use hard currency)..

The Govt dept I work for just changed from Windows XP service pack 2 to Windows 7. Still using Internet Explorer though.
