Probable chest infection, had to go home from work and apparently the duty doctor can't reach me on my mobile despite confirming my number is correct. Stuff is weird.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Call from my old boss.
Wants me back, I'm genuinely torn on this one. Im happy enough on the project we're currently on, but I do become bored after 3/4 months on a site. The job offer would be for a load of shorter term projects.
Biggest potential problem I know some of the fucktards he has working for them, so I would have to insert a no dumbasses clause into the agreement as I am not supervising fucktards again for him.

moving to a new office in the same building tomorrow. My firm is shuffling me around based on the landlord's whims, b/c there's not enough space in our "main" office space for me to work.

Overall, it's kinda good, because I get a ton of space even more to myself (our main is on the 4th floor, I'm moving from the second to the ground floor)

But due to moving there's a ton of hassles. I'll have to temporarily work on the 4th floor, and if there's issues setting up network cables, this could stretch for a while.

plus a really mundane thing: instead of one key to my office, I'll now need four. FOUR.

My keychain will soon weigh over a kilo at this rate.

1. I'm very glad you are (mostly) OK, but have you been to a hospital? Because if not, then please do so NOW.

Not been to a hospital, but the doctors and police station are back-to-back across the road from me, so I was luckily looked after there.

Plot twist: The car that hit you was driving Ment to hospital. It was serious and they weren't paying attention.

Your new avatar is the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And your new title is "Just a flesh wound".

Won't be too hard to track that driver down if they didn't stop in a car like that. Then sue the **** for the value of the car. :apt2:

Nope. Must've been my Australian counterpart.

Moving woes.

Naturally, there's no phone jack in my new office. So the phone guy couldn't hook anything up.

More to the point, running network cable is not Bell's prerogative. So my manager (who's been dealing with all kinds of personal crap for the past 2 months) has to get a hold of the IT people and make arrangements about that.

And the hallway in which my new office is gets locked up. With a lock I STILL don't have a key for. This is problematic, since I frequently work late hours.

Most likely I'll end up dragging a spare table back to the mess that is my old office and set up my PC there again, until this situation gets sorted out.

Be that guy that hassles the fuck out of IT until they get it sorted.
Then give them a box of beer.
Next time, your shit will be sorted that day

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Ha-ha.

No.

It was a folding table (so not heavy), and I only had to carry this stuff up a single flight of stairs. And I only stepped on the dangling monitor cable once, but thankfully I didn't crush the connector pins, so it's running properly.

What did go wrong is that my goddamn phone didn't start up properly after yesterday's update, so my alarm didn't go off. Hence I was almost 2 hours late for work (thank God stuff is slow as molasses in the summer)... and when I got there, the access to my new office was STILL locked.

I'm supposed to get the key this afternoon. Which is good, since I tend to work late, and having access to my work stuff cut off at 5PM is not acceptable.

There's also the thing where my phone developed this green and black line across the screen, which is apparently a really bad thing for an Android phone. We'll see how that pans out, I guess, given I've crushed the screen far beyond any warranty claims.

Tried to go to work today but I'm still coughing too much and had to go home, so now I'm worried I'll be laid off my zero hours contract job for having three sick days in a row

It's a good thing I'm feeling better now (though I felt better last night too) cause I'd be in work tomorrow if I did actually cough so much I threw up, instead of just retching a few times
