It's just a lone idiot, Tiste, remember that. Manchester is awesome. Surprised they made it through security though, each time I have been to the Arena they searched our bags and had a metal detector and pat down.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Yeah every time I've been the security has been quite on it!

I guess if it happened in the area where you walk up from Victoria station, that's all public and easily accessible still.

Just saw that it was indeed close to the train station entrance. No way that they could have secured that, it's all free access.

Oi, Americans, stop leaking sensitive intelligence information on the Manchester bombings!

https://www.theguard...after-uk-rebuke

"UK counter-terrorist specialists said this week they needed to keep the name of a perpetrator or suspect secret for at least 36 hours to ensure there was an element of surprise in approaching relatives, friends and others. But US officials in Washington briefed US journalists early on Tuesday about the number of dead, that it was a suicide bombing and – only hours later – the name of the killer. The UK had not been planning to release the name on Tuesday.

The UK's reluctance to identify the assailant was evident because it took hours after his name was circulating in the US media before Greater Manchester police confirmed it. Rudd said: "The British police have been very clear that they want to control the flow of information in order to protect operational integrity, the element of surprise. So it is irritating if it gets released from other sources and I have been very clear with our friends that should not happen again." Although her language was mild, it is rare for a UK politician to issue such a rebuke to the Americans.

And now images of the explosives. How big is this security leak in the US intelligence service? This is going to cause a major international incident. You just cannot do this. British government is rightfully pissed off.

The soundproofing in my condo isn't great, which is sadly par for the course in most condos these days; normally I'd just shrug it off and live with it. The issue is that my downstairs neighbor makes these oh-so-lovely gagging / horking noises almost every morning - I assume when he's brushing his teeth - and he's so loud that I can hear it (my bedroom is next to my bathroom and so is roughly above his bathroom). Honestly, he's better than my alarm, because he usually starts up a minute or two before I need to get up.

I have no idea how to bring this up without seeming rude. I don't want to just say "hey, you're a nice guy and I know you probably don't even realize this, but can you cut it out with the retching? I can hear you as clearly as if you were doing it in my ear." I've tried earplugs but I can't sleep with them, if they're not falling out they hurt too much. Also, it is roughly at the same time I need to get up for work, so a part of me thinks I should hush up and deal. It's not like we can rip up the place and install extra soundproofing, but still, it's so gross...not a pleasant way to start my day, that's for sure.

Yup. They have stopped sharing information with US intelligence services. Let that sink in for a moment... One of our closest allies and we do not trust them with information about combating terrorism.

As for what is messing with my groove, it is my brothers' funeral tomorrow. Not likely to be on for a few days.

Can you lay down carpet/rugs on your bedroom floor to try and reduce the sound?

Close your bathroom door of an evening and use a door sausage to help keep out the sound?

These are both things I've personally done with varying degrees of success in the past.

Take care man. It's not going to be easy, but it should help your family get closure. Support.

I will definitely try these ideas, thanks! (Probably start with the door sausage and go from there.)

And Tiste, my sympathies again.

I have stitches in my right armpit at the moment. Everytime I move my arm around they get rubbed/pulled and it's not pleasant.

Not painful, just uncomfortable.

What the hell is a door sausage? Is this like some kind of charming Australian slang for your house snake?

Should I ask why you have stitches in your armpit or is this just one of those Loki things? Like your record number of concussions rivalling a professional rugby player.

A friend's mum died of melanoma suddenly and unexpectedly last weekend so I finally got around to having a mole removed.

Though fair enough question considering the last time I got stitches it was due to trying to run down a makeshirt ramp on a tyre rim.
