12 hour work days, every weekday, for the past two months. What is life?

In unrelated news; I've never been so relieved, happy, or otherwise enthusiastic for Easter weekend before (nightmare day leading into the long weekend notwithstanding).

Having recently been learning NZ employment law, it is stupid and you should move to Australia, you get paid extra for your overtime (when hourly paid at least) and in your kind of job don't work the stupidly long hours and get more pay :)

I just google imaged "morrigan dragon age". Holy shit! :)

I'm sort of creating my own problem in that I'm trying to tone the costume down a bit (I am nowhere near brave enough to wear as little as she does!)

Plus I think you should wait for the middle of that oh-so-brief warm-ish period you guys call "summer". For your health if nothing else.

so I'm in some sort of no man's land middle ground where clothes do not exist. Hohum.

Actually from what I saw I think that character is in that place. Whoa!

EDIT: some of these ideas may tick both boxes for "looks good" and "won't get TRB arrested".

The hen night is thankfully bang smack in the middle of summer! And thanks for the link, I love her Winter Palace dress :)

Those gowns look nice!

The English have summer? I thought the whole point of the British Empire was so that they could take it in turns to go down to the tropics and find out what the Sun looks like!

I am seriously considering it. This is ridiculous.

@Maccy - haha, yeah, yeah. If you can do more than 5 days of work in a row then clearly your job isn't as hard and stressful as mine. :)

Oh no he didn't!!!

Step into the pressure cooker little man! We're doing rolling shut downs right now, and when we leave site everything HAS to be working.
Then when we do leave things working we find out that the pipework guys bodged their work in because they wanted ti get away early.
Que 5am phone calls saying joints and valves have exploded and the entire building is flooded.
With sewage
Raw sewage
Straight from the pooper
And everything is fucked. Make it work again. (this happened tuesday, we're only finally getting it right again today, i'll be working good friday, most of easter saturday, might get easter monday off. Next weekend we have a one go entire change out to do, that means starting onsite at 5am friday morning and finishing, sometime, saturday night.

GET OFF MY LAWN!!

My grandparents' flight yest got delayed by 3.5 hours. As a result they were gonna miss their connection and be stuck in Warsaw airport for 48 hours (they don't have the Shengen visas)

So we changed their flight to Tuesday.

I do not in any way, shape, or form have a problem with them staying with us 3 more days (they've been here over a year). But since they'll be living out of their suitcases, I foresee additional tension and irritability between my parents and grandparents. Which is leaving me mildly annoyed.

Work. Tomorrow. And the clocks change tonight.

I'm wondering if my phone will change the time automatically when i'm asleep or whether I'm going to get up and notice that it hasn't when I'm an hour late for work.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

^^I don't think Trav is bound to AMERICAN SUPREME TIME LAW.

What kind of bugs do you call June bugs, btw? It wasn't till a few years ago I realized different regions refer to different bugs as June bugs. Here it's the nutty brown one, but it wowed me to learn that green Japanese beetles are called June bugs elsewhere.

The story of how I fucked up isn't that interesting. There were several court ordered services this couple were to complete before we would consider giving their baby back to them. Because of the ridiculous caseload I have, I am always behind and playing catchup, and I didn't put in the referrals for any of the services, I thought it had already been done. So, instead of going to court and reporting on how many clean UAs the parents provided over the past 60 days, I was going to have to explain why they had done zero.

In my defense they knew they were supposed to be doing these services, and never once contacted me to ask why they hadn't been set up yet. Most likely because they wouldn't pass them anyways.

So yeah, long story short I could potentially be held in contempt of court for not setting up court-ordered services. But instead I had surgery, and think I might have already developed a small problem regarding my pain medication, which makes everything feel nice.

You work in child services? Holy crap, no wonder you're overworked.

You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din. I couldn't do that - I'd be wanting to kill too many pieces of shit all the time, or put all the kids in protective care. I couldn't handle the stress and the heartbreak.

Ours are the 2nd pic though the ones currently all up in my house atm are really dark brown for some reason. Idk if the early heat wave has made them sprout prematurely (adopt a mth early) and threw off the shade or if they are a new mutant bug. Either way they're annoying and can be painful if they smake you in the face as they bumble through the air.

Shadow of Apt got it right how ungracefull beetles are trying to fly.

Mutant bugs.... I feel faintly guilty that living where I do I don't have better bug stories

But then again in the rural areas I have seen beetles the size of my hand

The half-assed way my mom does everything. Please, for the love of everything and my sanity, learn to wring out the damn rag you just used to pretend to clean the kitchen sink with, and hang it to dry. Slapping it down into the sink and leaving it there for days is NOT how it's done. Magically making it come back from the trash can I threw that thing into so it can continue being a health hazard and stinking up the kitchen is ALSO not how that's done.

And no, that aubergine is not 'still good enough'. It's half rotten. Last time she said 'good enough' I could not go to work because I was so sick thanks to eating that 'good enough' stuff. No. If you can't be arsed to cook, let it be. Just let it freaking be. Go eat your ice cream. Speaking of food, stop leaving food bare on that counter you just mopped with that stinting rag you let come to life over the past couple of weeks.

I have thrown all that stinking crap away and put up new cleaning cloths and stuff with designated places where to put them to dry. I have just walked into the kitchen to find that stuff where it doesn't belong :nuke:
