So I'm looking for a place of my own these days so I can move out from my mom's place, which is proving difficult enough since I have not enough regular income and have to rely on government help. Now, I looked at an appartment today and I'm reaaally torn. On the up side, I liked it immediately, it's in a nice area, has a big (big for my purposes) kitchen and the current tennant says it doesn't heat up like crazy in the summer (it's on the upper floor). On the down side, it's got a steep staircase through which I won't be able to get my furniture up there, which sucks because I kinda cling to my furniture. On the up side, it allows for a separate office space, to which I can simply shut the door, on the down side, thanks to that the rooms are freaking small..

I hate having so much trouble to make firm decisions.

Gnaw you were right about the ID theft. Some dork got a mobile phone in my name, and I had to call that company's fraud department. Turns out they already flagged it though, luckily.

Also the water line to my fridge dispenser stopped working. Nearly panicked, but looked that up and apparently they freeze occasionally! First time, after years of ownership. Had to turn the freezer off and blow dry the line a bunch. I've found that the last month or so has offered me a true bounty of worries. Who could ask for anything more?

Had a waste water pipe from the bathroom (bath and sink) knocked out by wind. Letting agent sent their guy to fix it. And he's drilled into one of the internal pipes, so now if we use the bath, shower or sink, water is dripping down through the wall around where we've already had the ceiling fall in once.

As if I needed further proof I was better off out of my previous place of work....

Got confirmation of my start date in the new job (a week today) but not before the recruitment agency rang me up in a panic because the old place had disclosed my sickness tally with no explanation at all - and because of the time off after having the tumour removed it's pretty high, 27 days.

No explanation and no reference to the fact it was under a valid sick note. That could have cost me the new job if thankfully the new place weren't more professional and took the time to ask. They were actually taken aback that I explained it at all and thanked me for my honesty. Recruiter was absolutely furious as her advice to employers is not to mention long term sick leave if it is covered by a valid note, because there's usually a good reason and it avoids questions being raised - I mean, imagine if it had been something intensely private I'd been in hospital for?

What utter arseholes.
