Not knowing what the hell is going on with my body. Woke up on Tuesday with paralysis in my right arm. Couldn't make a fist, hold a cup, open the fridge etc. Not to mention weakness in my right leg. Didn't do much about it at first but when my face started feeling numb I figured it might be a good idea to give my partner a call at work. Suffice it to say, I got the usual 'why am I only hearing about it now?' speech. He sounded really concerned and wanted me to call an ambulance (which I refused) so he handed over everything to his interns and came home and drove me to the hospital. I had gotten what I thought was a lot of control amd strength back in my arm by that time but then the intern who initially reviewed me had me do a bunch of 'push against my hand' things and my left arm was brilliant whilst my right arm could barely push or resist against any resistance. So words like 'stroke' and 'sub hemieral bleed' started getting thrown around. Got sent for a CT scan which was clear and now I have to wait to receive an appointment time for an MRI. It's a six week wait in the public system as an outpatient (I refused to stay another night) but thanks to professional courtesy, the head neurologist at the hospital has added me to their private patient list but will still bulk bill all the costs. There are definite perks to being married to a doctor.
I still have reduced use of my right arm and leg but not as severe as it was.

I'm hoping it's just all caused by migraines and nothing more severe. Although, if it was a stroke it has resolved itself really quickly so in away it wouldn't be the worst diagnosis.

At least I have enough use of my hand to still play videogames. That's the main thing. :p

OK that sounds really serious. Its a really good thing that your partner is a doctor and you are getting immediate medical attention. Were you able to talk coherently to your partner when you were experiencing paralysis? Then its probably not stroke.

I doubt its migraine related. My father has migraines and we have never seen anything like this.

Stay safe

Actually, (I only found this out the other day myself) migraines can cause paralysis and a bunch of stroke-like symptoms. They're called hemiplegic migraines. And I have had a sharp increase in migraines lately which is why I'm hoping that's what's causing everything.

Yeah the correct reaction to "I can't move my arm or leg" isn't "It'll probably go away" it's "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH GET ME A DOCTOR, HOW CAN I PLAY MASS EFFECT ANDROMEDA IF MY NEW NICKNAME IS STUMPY"
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

To be fair, I did call a doctor (eventually). And I did go to the hospital (eventually).

And it's not that easy to call an ambulance and go to hospital when you have a toddler. You need to organise someone to mind them first.

Had I been slurring words or if my mental acuity was affected I would have called my partner sooner. And possibly an ambulance. :p

My sister had one of those migraines once. If you've been having a flare up then I bet it was exactly that. She lost all feeling in one of her arms, most feeling in a leg and couldn't speak properly whilst on a bus heading out for the afternoon. The friend she was with had a major panic but got her to hospital where they diagnosed the migraine thing quite quickly, gave her appropriate drugs and a bit of a lie down and then sent her home to bed. She's never had one like that before or since so hopefully it's a one off. Good luck with the results!

Oh yes, groove messed by the most ridiculous mountain of work and business travel. It's not usually this bad and I knew the mad July schedule was due to hit but when my boss added to the mountain with a "we really need you to go and do this job in South Korea" I just wanted to strangle her. I'm stoked to be going to see Seoul for free but I'm having difficulty seeing where I'm going to squeeze any of my life in to July. I'm also going to Sydney on the same trip. Again I'm pleased but I will be spending about 5 working days in the air for 2 days of actual fee earning work! All because my boss has grounded my colleague who covers South East Asia because she is having IVF. I like that I work for a boss who is compassionate to her staff (the IVF ladies doctor said that she can fly but my boss said "Yeah but do you really want to?") but where's the compassion for meeeeeeee dagnamit???

Having a bit of a clumsy day.

In the morning I sent an email to the completly wrong person
While pullng a pair of jeans out of my closet I knocked over and smashed a bottle of aftershave. My room now smells rather strongly and it was rather expensive stuff.

After getting back home I immediately managed to spill a bottle of water all over my bed.

Heres hoping I can make it to bedtime without doing more damage

You should come live where I live. Then you get to compain about both at the same time. Example

Day before yesterday the weather really sucked. It was hot and sticky and nobody could relax. Then when I got out of the subway and started walking to my institute the rain came pouring down and drenched me totally. I think I caught a cold.
