Well the seasons are changing, and that means my dust and pollen allergy is kicking up again. Have been sneezing non stop for the past hour. My eyes are burning, my nose is sore, and I may have pulled a neck muscle. I hate this time of the year. Posted Image

Antihistamines FTW.

I am on Levocetrizine and I might as well be taking sugar pills for all the effect its having.

Moved Canada shooting posts to the DB topic for the incident for relevance's sake.

Spent all afternoon and evening keeping a close eye on my burn pile because the wind shifted direction shortly after noon. Was blowing straight towards the garage, which is a fair distance away but sparks are light. A little while ago it started gusting strongly, so I decided that better safe than sorry was in order and dumped 10 buckets of dirt on the stumps. Not enough to put the fire out but enough to keep the wind from swirling through the coals.

Twenty minutes ago the sky dropped what feels like an inch of rain. It's pouring.

So now I get to separate the dirt from the stumps and try to get them burning again. Without all the brush and dead pine trees it took to get them burning this time.

Spending too much money lately <outofcontrol>..decided after looking at my budgeting to go back to my College Days Methodology. Spend nothing/work out like a madman.

Work out until you get your spending under control and hit the #weight number lifting and no excess spending until then.

Maybe I'll do envelopes again.that works well.Grrr.

As posted in the 'Happy' thread, i got a Beagl;e yestersday.

Whats messing with the Groove is that said Beagle and my cat are not quite getting along. (think Cold War, both suspicious of the other but neither willing to make the first move) Going to wait and see if it calms down or not. (thankfully the breeder knows all the details and we are classing this as a home trial at the moment)

Update: Dog attacked the cat today and chased him out of the house, cat refuses to now come back in the house, looks like im not going to have a dog now B)

Yes, and you made the classic mistake most people make. Rushing. You need to start over.
Go to google, look up 'introduce dogs and cats and/or "introduce a second cat' - yes... "second cat". Here's one: http://www.samsmiles.org/catsdogs.html
Find the plan that is longest, usually several weeks.
Follow it. Treat your cat as the new/second pet. Follow every step, for as many days as necessary and then some.
DO NOT move on the next step until both animals are comfortable, and by this i mean the cat because dogs don't register these stressors the same way.

Follow one of these plans, or an amalgamation of several, over a period of weeks and your animals will get along just fine.
Rush it and your cat will kill you both in your sleep, gut the dog and wear it like a suit. Or just never settle in and pee on everything which, trust me, you DO NOT want.

Your 'safe haven' plan is owner fail. It cannot work because it means the cat is perpetually fleeing the dog and the dog thinks its ok to chase the cat. You can't establish 'territories' - they have to.

Alternatively, put them both in the same big shirt until they learn to get along.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Though Abyss was mostly right. It was a mistake to allow them to interact so soon. My cat is usually an unrepentant jerk to other animals. Including other cats. So I have doubts she would have EVER properly integrated with him.

It's now been a long while since we introduced her to the condo and our dog (who is in ALL other ways an alpha male, dominant dog) is cowed by her. She holds court underneath our dining room table (on a pillow that was initially just there for some other reasons that she long ago claimed as her bed/throne) and woe betide the dog who passes too close to the table area...she has been known to come flying out for no reason whatsoever and swipe at him.

Luckily with her claw covers she can't do him any damage....but he's VERY careful now if he passes her table. He tiptoes almost.

They exist now in a relatively uneasy truce. She has a spot on the back of the couch by the big window...and his spot is underneath that directly on a couch cushion...and they HAVE been known to sit in their respective spots about two feet from one another in relative peace. But if he looks at her...she hisses and loses her shit.

So they are mostly okay now...but be aware that some cats will just never want to live amongst dogs and will be a dick to them regardless of level of integration.

Gods but I'm in a rut.

I left this damn job years ago to study archaeology - worked for several years in different areas, just started getting somewhere when they made half the department redundant, with the possibility of further cuts.

And since we had a baby on the way, I got a job doing what I used to do, in a hospital just down the road, for significantly more pay for less hours. I always kind of thought of it as a temporary thing - but since we had another child, and moved into a bigger house, I've now ended up in the very situation I always wanted to avoid - working somewhere I don't like with no easy way out.

It's my own damn fault; I just can't see a way out of it though and I'm finding it harder to deal with now, I don't like the job, the nightshifts, weekends, and not being able to get time off for half terms and school holidays.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

:p
:p
:unworthy:
:D

Just walked through the living room. My father watches a TV shaman named John Hagee every night at 7:30. This guy is so nuts I've caught myself on more than one occasion wishing that Dad would go back to watching Pat Robertson. I really didn't think it could get worse.

I was so very wrong. Hagee has started a "newshour" behind his sermon.

A few tidbits from 60 seconds it took me to grab something from the fridge:
  • There is no such thing as a Sunni / Shiite split. That's "news media" propaganda.
  • Iran funds Sunni groups like Al Qaeda and Hamas.
  • Saudi Arabia supports Iran's push for nuclear weapons.
  • The White House knows this and is actively obstructing 'the truth'.

The only bright spot in this is that my dad is enough of a tightwad he won't send them money.

All I'm saying is that if only 1000 of you deliver a $250 seed -- and I emphasize you can't buy a miracle, you are planting a seed of a miracle through faith -- if only 1000 of you plant this seed with us tonight, I prophecy that one of you out there, one whose dreams have seemed impossible before now, one of you will become a millionaire.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

A friend of mine does some freelance work for a games journalism site. Told me about the gamergate phenomena some time back, and subsequent reading on the subject makes me despair for humanity. Or, especially for the part of humanity that identifies with that whole misogynistic mob.

We recently let go a disfunctional employee. We have 3 FTE available work, and due to the guy going, we lack geographical cover for part of our "competition free" environment.

But.... my boss and I have just been informed that we're not going to hire anyone in his stead. Yet we're asked to join a second brainstorming session on how to acquire even more customers - for which we then of course don't have any cover.
