The weather...I so ardently hate the weather....it's the monsoon.....In India now it's supposed to be pouring with rain....last two days its beasically been oven temperature in sauna humidity....no rain and since this morning the sun is shining so brightly my eyes hurt. I was up all night watching the World Cup and now its 9.30 in the morning and I wish I was dead....
The swings between 4 days of rain so hard you see snakes go swimming by in the middle of the road and beatdown by the heat days makes India/Nepal such a strange experience in the middle of the summer.
At least you can go places when it's hot. Keepa calm khanna, keepa calm.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Oh don't get me started on the snakes. I am lucky to live in a part of the city which is relatively high and well-drained. My friend lives in another area, where after a 1 hour shower, ankle to knee deep waterlogging on the streets is the norm, peoples houses get flooded etc etc. Then when you are trudging through the murky water you see the snakes taking a nice refreshing swim. My friend once told me she avoids a particular lane, because sometimes snakes take swan dives of low tree branches into the water there. And as for being able to go to cooler places, thats always there we do have the worlds highest mountain range, but monsoon genrally means landslides. People usually go April to June, then again in October, before the heavy snow comes.

Snakes swan diving from trees? My problem suddenly seems so insignificant. I'll post it anyway because it is funny
A few weeks after we moved into our new house almost a year ago, the neighbours started putting our bins out for us on bin collection day. It was very nice of them but as two able bodied adults we don't really need the help. We said thank you each week if we remembered when we saw them but often we would forget and then we would feel bad. We also offered to do theirs sometimes but they are usually up and about before we are and get it done before we get up - or sometimes the evening before. They were so diligent about it, it was weird. About two weeks ago they stopped doing it. I don't mind that they don't want to put someone else's bins out but now we are plagued by thoughts of what we have done to offend them!! Is it because we kept forgetting to say thank you - it's not always on your mind when you bump into them on the way to the car or coming in from work or whatever. I had a dream that my neighbour burned out my vegetable patch in revenge last night...... WTF!!

Goddamn endless trailers on dvds/bluray that you've actually bought.
I hate having to flick through a dozen different stupid menus and out of date film ads. If you buy a film, it should just go to the film menu, not a load of unskippable crap beforehand.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

So we took the time to clean the shop I work at yesterday, including taking apart the coffee machine and cleaning it properly, which hadn't been done in (possibly) years considering how it looked on the inside. Anyway, apparently the brand of coffee we've been using so far isn't getting manufactured/sold anymore, so the boss bought a new brand, and I've spent half the day trying to find out what exactly is wrong, but now the coffee tastes like dishwater.. Blargh. Can't be due to taking it apart and back together again, the machine works as it's supposed to be, I went over all the steps again and again. Thus.. must be the new kind of coffee. Which sucks. We can't sell that. Maybe we can do soemthing by changing the dosage, but eh, this is GREATLY messing with my groove.

Near psychologic break with step-father-in-law tracking dog poop through the house, and saying he'll get it later. I still smell it, everywhere. Thank goodness I have kids that are running/crawling all over the floors...

As I see it there are two possibilities:
1. He is walking around with shoes indoors, witch is a no go, especially if he walks in poop.
2. He managed to walk in dog poop while wearing socks or walking bare feet witch may have made it hard to not drag in through the house.
But ether way he really should have removed it asap. Everything else is just gross.

Been into the city for the first time in about five years.
The sheer volume of sweaty humanity encountered while just travelling is.. slightly nauseating. I just seem to be totally intolerant of crowds and large volumes of people in small areas these days.
Was slightly disappointed to find that the Natural History Museum has turned from beautiful huge open plan arrangement to a...gigantic, claustrophobic queue. In the dark, for some bizarre reason. Maybe it's quieter in the winter?
I took my daughter as I used to love going there so much, but with the amount of people crammed in it kind of lost the sense of subdued awe I used to get walking in the place.

I just finsihed the last revision of my bachelor thesis, but not fast enough - the copyshops in my area all closed ten minutes ago. I guess I just have to hope that nothing goes wrong with printing tomorrow, since that's when I have to hand it in.

I was not made to work in an office when it is over 30 degrees inside.
Beautiful evening outside, but sitting in the heat all day has me too bagged to do anything worthwhile.
