And before you go whining about racial shit, can you show me where Zimmerman has a history of being a racist, or said anything racial during the call? yes/no?

The Non Emergency Number operator isn't legally able to give orders, and their suggestions are not legally enforceable. However, in my opinion from the evidence listed Zimmerman ignored his training in both MMA and Neighbourhood Watch and the suggestion of the NEN and went out of his way to create an encounter, and from the injuries and lack of which on both of them didn't do enough before resorting to shooting Martin. I don't see how, from any version of Zimmerman's story (especially the one where Martin spontaneously decided to murder him and said homey and YA GOT ME after being shot in the heart and lung), Martin saw his gun while on top of him when it would have been behind Martin. Zimmerman should be in jail for manslaughter, personally, but hey! He's alive, and Martin is dead. Woo. Hopefully the civil (civic? whichever) court case and the perjury trial clean the lying son of a bitch the fuck out.

(ignoring the story about him being hostile to a black neighbour, there's also the fact six of the last seven 911 calls he made were about suspicious black teens hanging around after some burglaries by a group of two black and one white teens, who were caught numerous weeks before he spotted Martin, heavily suggesting profiling, also, he shot a black teenager to death)

I agree. I also think that instead of whining about this case, it should be used as a catalyst to get the stupid ass law changed, so that it has a duty to retreat, just like every other one in the world.

He didn't waive SYG defense, he waived the hearing that is required before throwing the case out. The SYG hearing is still available to him at this time, and his lawyers have stated that if Martin's family brings civil suit against him, they will start the process to get a SYG hearing.

Edit - PS if we want to keep discussing this case and the idiotic SYG laws and the racial nature, we should probably make a thread in the Discussions forum, instead of raaaaging out in here.

For the longest while I have been trying to get myself to compose a speech for my friend's wedding as I am the best man. I've been pretty busy, been procrastinating, plus I cant say I know what I want to say. There isnt too much time left... anyone got any idears how to tackle this?

Think of some stories about him that you can sanitise - like, mention how he fell down some stairs after tripping on a stepladder twice in a row wearing literally nothing but a shirt but don't mention the shrooms he was on, as a totally imaginary example I certainly didn't use - along with nice things about the both of them, nothing you wouldn't tell your grandmother

Write a list of points you want to hit - Jokes about groom; compliments about bride; embarassing stories; commiserations to parents about how awful the couple were as kids; mass insults etc - on a card to take with you and ad-lib between them as you want

Put any mistakes down to nerves and champagne/lust for slices of cake why am I still talking that cake looks delicious

End on a high, claim the two wouldn't have met without you and therefore everyone is here today thanks to me, shower me with the praise I am due
