We have just buried our cat.

She was almost 22.

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing pets is very hard.

In that same category the eldest of the family Schnauzer's is flagging with failing kidneys...they are attempting one final treatment (as he is currently in no pain) and if that fails he will have to be put down. He's old, blind, deaf and frail, but it's very sad as he's still quite happy and as I said, not in any pain. His ill health, and impending death is messing with my groove.

Went clubbing with a friend yesterday but an old nemesis of hers was there, and when I calmly advocated a peaceful, stay-the-fuck-away approach, she got pissed off at me. Guess playing the peacemaker is a hard gig.

Also I have to hike my ass out to the other side of the city to do this short film directed by this guy I used to be friends with, the reason for the cessation of friendship being that he's an obnoxious twat. Getting more acting work is cool but I expect a whole lotta nerves being got on.

Sorry to hear to you both....

22 is a good age though!
but are they worth preserving?

My boss is a total flake. He's always bitching about how much sick leave people take in this business but he's had more than everyone else in our team put together! Today he's not bothered coming in because it's snowing and he has a long drive and doesn't want to get stuck in London. Erm, I spend 60-90mins each way on the train and tube and I don't cry off for a tiny sprinkling of snow. I even live in the same direction out of London as him so he could take the same train if he left his car at home. If me or another junior person had as much time off as him we'd be on disciplinary. To top it off, on the numerous occasions that he doesn't show up, he always emails me individually to make sure anything really important gets done but he refuses to promote me above the others in my peer group. Argh, I frickin hate him.

Two things.

Neil Gaiman very suddenly lost his dog Cabal the other day, and the blog post he wrote about the loss made me cry so much I didn't even notice I was crying until the tears were flowing. Read post here if you wish: http://journal.neilg...-2003-2013.html

The second thing was that we went out on Saturday for the boyfriend of a friend's BDay (to a pub)...the boyfriend whom I've known for a few years is a very nice, down to earth guy...however, it was also his brother's birthday...the brother is unrelentingly obnoxious. He's 36 and proceeded to get badly drunk, hit on EVERY girl there (including my girlfriend, but at least he acknowledged I was sitting there)...in FRONT of his young 27-year old girlfriend (who, when she saw how he was behaving looked both annoyed and VERY uncomfortable with his behavior), he threatened to take his pants off no less than 6 times (I had resolved that if he did it my gf should video it on her phone and post it on youtube to teach him a lesson). It was a mess of a night. Oh and the brother's best friend was there (also whom we'd not met before) and he was (if possible) even MORE obnoxious...like immediately ran the room to see who was married, dating ect. He was a skeeve who actually looked at Mrs. QT and my hands and noticed we aren't married and then asked us "Are you guys dating, or is she free?"...like...seriously. Dude, you are a fuckup and even if she was free, that would NOT work as a pickup line. (I heard later some skeezy girl showed up and he was hitting on her as well and then became even more obnoxious.

So yeah, long story short, a horrible night where all I wanted to do was go home, but I wasn't about to leave Mrs. QT and her sister in the clutches of these two fuckups to have to fend them off. Sigh. Yeah, so we won't be going to any more of this person's birthday outings. I'd rather jump off the CN Tower and catch my eyelid on a nail.

Second set of courses started today. Both are online, which I've actually come to prefer over face-to-face classes. However, one of them only operates on a Monday-Friday schedule, with assignments due every other day. I also have to watch every lecture that is done from the face-to-face section. With this rigid of a schedule, all the benefits of an online course have kind of went out the window.
