My ex-girlfriend was sexually assaulted. At a sleepover. By one of her supposed friends. If I ever find out who did it, I will make his life a living hell. I'll kill him.

And she's got insomnia, hates and shames herself for it and is basically repressing the whole thing, from herself and everyone else. She doesn't know what to do.

Neither do I. Christ.

That is fucked.

Whoever that guy is he needs to be arrested and charged. People like that deserve to be castrated, end of story.

You do not do a goddamn thing yourself. You tell her parents and let the family handle it. Hopefully, they will go to the police and things will get settled there.

Experiencing feelings of rage about the sexual assault of your friend is a good thing. However, actually taking revenge and ruining someone's life is not your job. Your foremost duty is to be there for your friend. Report this to her parents, even if she does not want you to and then step outside of the process. I really, really hope she and her family take this to the police for handling, because that kind of thing is not ok in the slightest.

As above, make sure her family knows, encourage her to go to the police and seek professional help to get through this.

So I'm at a serious crossroads, that I haven't told anyone in my family about.

I'm either going to go and get my credentials to teach highschool, or join the military, and THEN teach.

It's something that I've wanted to do since I was little, but it's never fit in with the expectations of my family members.

I'm not really sure what to do.

Anyone have experience in the armed forces (looking at only a few of you) with input?

Stormy - do what you want to do, your family will come round once they see you are happy.

Thanks Centz, I think that it might be my best option. I know the only man in my life who's approval merits financial gain (i.e. my mother's father) would approve wholeheartedly. And it's something I've meant to do since I was 6. I think I'm going to meet the recruiter on campus after office hours for the only class I'm taking on Monday. It's good having at least one vote of confidence. <3

O.o Youtube, Animecrazy.net/animefreak.tv? Funimation.com??

Also, I'll second "do what you want to do" - there are times when advice is good to be followed, but arbitrary disapproval or disapproval simply because they don't see your point of view isn't worth a lot, not when there's something you really want to do. I say this, assuming you yourself have given the choice a lot of thought, of course.

Been thinking about doing the same thing for a while. Always wanted to become a teacher but also wanted to join the army. Im unsure whether to teach first or join and teach afterwards as you say. Difficult and I know my family will crucify me for it but as other have said theyll hopefully come round.

To both Tiam and Stormy, do what you need to do. If it's important to you, and not an absolutely horrendous, potentially suicidal idea, then it's your families job to support you.
And good luck when it comes to telling them. I was freaking out about telling the family members who're important to me when I decided to move to the other side of the continent. But I really needed to get away, and while it upset my grandparents at the time, I'm so glad I did. They want me closer and miss me (as I do them), but in the end I think they're glad too

The Gf is sitting playing Skyrim while I'm surfing. There's a bard. He's singing. Repeatedly.

Also reading Virginia Woolf for Uni ( after James Joyce). Bawsack.

Definitely join if you feel like it, it will definitely instill you with skills necessary to deal with the couple hundred godawful teenagers you'll have to deal with every day as a teacher. Plus you'll probably get a free trip to Iran out of it, and it ain't like you can win that on Wheel of Fortune.

Instead of being at work I'd rather be at home...and I'll be at my place tonight (not my new place at my gf's house where my laptop and internetz are) where I have no internet access...and thus I will not be able to watch ONE PIECE...and I'm already kind of addicted and this feels like withdrawal.

Arg!

I think I have the flu. Woke up at 5:30am and promptly threw up like a champ. Feeling damn lousy. That or I'm pregnant.
