It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I am absolutely totally and utterly stuck on some work that has to be finished for Friday. It's too hard and I have no idea how to do it and can't find anyone who can help. Even the internet can't help. So I have been procrastinating all day (hence my forum activity!) and now I feel worse. Bugger.

Just took Oscar the ferret to the vet to be put to sleep. Poor guy. Adrenal cancer, pancreatic cancer causing insulinoma, lymphoma and a brain tumor. I can't say it wasn't expected, but still a shitty way to spend my day.

I miss my weasel.

What is your philosophy dissertation on TT?

I've chosen independently and thus insanely to write about the delightfully dull topic of parallels between Heidegger and Nietzsche's thoughts of Being. Roughly Im attempting to demonstrate how 1) Heidegger appropriated Nietzsche's structure of thinking in terms of the nihilistic progression of western history as metaphysics (and shared the belief in the necessity to overcome metaphysics); 2) the similarities between the method of escape from this nihilistic progression (so parallels between the repetitive structures of the will to power and being-towards-death, the overman and authentic Dasein and their similar needs for individualisation, and affirmation of life in the face of nothing), and 3) how Heidegger's interpretation of Nietzsche as a metaphysical thinker entails his thought is nihilistic and has heralded "Technik" or Gestell, the inauthentic understanding of technology and its destructive implications.

3's only if I have enough space, though. Im not sure how exactly I'll phrase my conclusion either, any thoughts?

Bet you wish you hadnt asked now lol.

Man, that's sad. No critter should ever get cancers.

I had to put to sleep a chocolate lab; I cried my eyes out.

Wow, that's incredibly boring lol how'd you get onto that? So far I've stayed clear of Heidegger and Nietzsche mostly, so I don't really know all that much about your topic. I've studied more mainstream philosophers like Hume, Descartes, Kant, Leibniz and Russell. I'm only first year too, so nowhere near writing dissertations, thank God

Sorry, buddy. I know you love them critters.

I very well could be homeless again soon. So, if you don't hear from me for a while, you'll know why.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Ooohh... I sympathize.

Last summer I was working with chili in the kitchen on the annual Freshmen Trip. I wasn't warned how strong the chili was and wasn't even using gloves.

It started with me rubbing sweat off my forehead. That was not a good idea at all. My head started to smart. Knowing this was about to get painful. I desperately asked how the hell I got this chili off. The chefs being either stupid or very cruel told me to just go wash with soap. I can tell you that this didn't work at all. Instead I managed to just further distribute the chili all over my face, it got in my eyes and on my lips and all over my hands. At this point it was beyond funny I was in serious pain as by body was telling me that it was pretty sure my face was on fire. The rest of the day I went around with a fiery red face and stinging hands. Luckily there was a fully stocked bar, and after I got pretty sauced I stopped noticing it too much.

What was worse was that I just couldn't get the chili off my fingers and hands. I tried washing them in milk, different oils, I even tried pouring make up removers all over them. Didn't help. The next two days my hands were fucked. I think the worst point came when I had to go to the toilet and I somehow managed to transfer a bit of the chili on to my sphincter. Its a good thing that there was no-one in the next cubicles because I seriously screamed like I'd just had my arse set on fire.

I am afraid of chili now.

Third year options were a delight, I had the choice of lots of good things for one option, and lots of shit ones for the other. I picked Heidegger as the best of a bad bunch, and was essentially told "go, write something about Heidegger's philosophy." I personally hate Heidegger because he writes like a berk, using normal words to mean something completely different, but still using the word in both its senses in the same sentence just to purposely confuse you, so even when you know what it all means, you're not quite sure if you've got what he's saying. Nietzsche is marginally more interesting so I thought I would use Heidegger's magnum opus on him as a starting point for my dissertation. Bad move, as it happens.

Im progressing far too slowly because even though I know what I want to do, I cant actually do it as I have to spend hours dissecting each sentence to make sure I've understood or expressed a term properly. Which means my politics dissertation (which is longer) is suffering as I cant work on that properly being so distracted by this. 3rd year, and more specifically my work organisation, is poo.
