I once went out with a girl who smoked. Kissing her tasted like drinking ashes... not a pleasant sensation, we didn't stay together long.

I love cigarettes, wish I had the willpower to quit...and stay quit. Stupid alcohol always drags me back in.
Good luck to ya there Bubba.
Good luck to ya there Bubba.

So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."
I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

You have drunk ashes before?
But yes I agree it's not great. Bubba, look at it this way; improved health, smell and general demeanour. The negatives; stress. Just overcome the stress and the body's dependance and you shall be a happier man.

Are you quitting cold turkey? That is so very hard. I smoked for many years and tried to quit many times because I knew it was bad for me. But I was not successful until I decided I just did not want to smoke anymore. Not the I should, but the I want to.
My doctor started me on wellbutrin, an antidepressant, for 2 weeks, then I put on the nicotine patch and quit. I used the patch (reducing the dose) for about a month along with the meds and was able to stop using the patch and stayed on the meds for about 3 months.
By the time I stopped those, I had quit, did not kill anyone, and had the time to break the habits that went with a smoke. Like I could have a beer or a coffee and not look for a smoke.
I've been smoke free for almost 7 years now and am so thankful I quit. It is worth it, you just need to find the best way for you to do it, and use some help from your doctor if you're having a hard time.
I'd say best of luck, but it's not luck, it is totally you doing this. Be proud you are trying and if it doesn't work, try again, you can do it!

How long have you been quit, Bubba? I've never managed for any longer than, oh...about as long as I sleep for. I slept for 24 hours once...

@ Bubba - Just think of all the extra red meat you can eat for an equivalent amount of heart disease!! Otherwise, I've never smoked. My dads smoking really put me off as a kid. I'll bet none of this is helping having just quit after 30 years though. Definitely go for the medical route for quitting, nicotine is a drug after all so your body needs to be weaned off it.
Oh yeah, just remembered the other reasons I didn't fancy smoking! Visiting my dying grandfather on a lung cancer ward when I was 8 and visiting my grandmother dying from emphysema when I was 20! Smoking related diseases are a real drag (pun intended

They say a good way to help you quit is to take your cigarette butts and soak them in water. Whenever you get the urge to smoke, smell the putrid bog water and that should kill any cravings.
Best of luck to you, I've never smoked tobacco alone, so I have no idea what it's like to quit, all I know is that I hate the smell.
I also stopped being an annoying non-smoker around the age of 15 when I realised it was none of my damn business.

I used to smoke a fair bit when I was at uni, with all the drinking and partying etc (between half a pack and a pack a day). But I quit when my voice was going mental, and I was always feeling sick. I just went cold turkey... worked okay, though I faltered a few times. Much better nows.... though I must admit I do still have the occasional smoke when with a friend who is a smoker

I had the same thing with a girl I went out with when I was 16. I didnt mind the smell at all (I love the smell of smoke, Im used to it around so it's comforting), but the kissing taste was definitely an obstacle. So was the quite frankly abysmal sex, and the fact she was a bitch and wanted to study english but couldnt even spell "etc", but I maintain it was the ashtray mouth taste that made me finish things.

I've never smoked cigarettes myself (the odd one or two aside), but I do enjoy a good cigar now and then, and my brother, sister, and nearly all my 14 uncles and aunts and all my grandparents either smoke or have recently given up, so I can appreciate the difficulty in giving up and the murerous rage that must be siezing you right now. Good luck, and chew gum!

Come to think of it, your current avatar isn't all that happy-looking either, so I suppose it's appropriate.

I usually give up once a year or so. Lasts anywhere between 1 and 8 months. The problem is that i really like smoking

I quit for 3 years once, then started again because I decided to reward myself with a pack of cigarettes. That was not well thought out. Been smoking again for about 6 years or so, think it's time to quit. I think when I go visit the in-laws at thanksgiving should be a good time, get away from my usual stimuli.
