Clip in TtH

When we all read RG, we were introduced to that snide smart-ass known as Clip. Many a Malazite expressed the desire to have him buggered by a rampant Soletaken.
In TtH, however, we see him as much humbled. I thought it was a great change myself, but the whole incident with the DyG was creepy.
Who greatly enjoyed the change of Clip's attitude? And any other stuff you wish to drone on about.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I enjoyed Clip getting slapped around, though I'll have to point out that Clip's attitude does not change at all. In the Epilouge between Nimander and Skintick, Skintick makes the remark that Clip's still a selfish little SOB despite everything that has happened.
I would not be suprised if, in future books, Clip gets recruited by the Crippled God to fill the position of Fool in High House Chains.

I didnt think Clip reformed much either. He was still an irritating ass. He treated the tiste andii like they were shit, then got himself possessed because of his arrogance. After that he was a possessed irritating ass.
I was hoping he was going to get his ass handed to him by Rake the whole way through the book, alas we will have to wait some more to see him die in some cool gory way..

He has the Dying God in him, right? I doubt they would team up, since their worshippers treated the CG as an outside religion and therefore an enemy.

I got the impression the Dying God (who wasn't really a God at all, just the remains of Belluradan) when faced with MD buggered off, left Clip to his fate, then got taken by Redeemer/Itikovian.

I kinda enjoyed the old clip. Not the possessed Clip. The possesed Clip really isnt the Clip we knew and loved to hate on. I was favouring a clash with the Old clip and Rake not the possesed Belludran thing, that was Belludran not clip. The dying god ( Belludran) at the end restrains himself from going after rake through the Kadshapalalaaaaaaaaa tattoo thingy.
Mama D kinda slapped the sense into Clip at the end, or Slapped Belludran out of Clip. She will most likely keep slapping Clip the whole way through the rest of the books unless someone like Spinnock just takes care of business and wipes out clip.
But if real Clip is back, then dont be suprised if he starts to plot against Mama D herself.

I did rather enjoy Clip getting backhanded around. I hope no one kills him, that way his arrogance will lead him to plot against someone else and fail miserably.
Flying Monkeys definitely win.

Well, that better not happen. I spent most off TTH wishing him to speed the fuck up to coral so he could die. Irritating bastard.

I dislike him, but I do think it's good to have someone to be annoyed at. Makes for a much better reading experience to feel more emotions than heroic awe
Though to answer the initial question, I didn't really think he have changed much and will prolly be as he were again, but perhaps a bit more careful
It's more how the others see him too, I think maybe Nimander and those are a bit changed hence the view chance.
But I am always in favor of keeping the annoyances, as long as they're not the only ones left :-p

He pissed me off too, but like SE said in an interview once, he likes it when people hate some characters, because he knows that hes done a good job at making them realistic characters.
Wouldnt have minded if Nimander slapped him around at some point though, woulda been fun to read. Maybe in the next book he can be Nimander's little bitch and carry his drinks.

Clip still has the Dying God(who is a God because he has worshippers, and is probably an Ascendant of some form) within him... Id love to see the Dying God and the Crippled God go head to head...
If anyone ever watches South Park, it'd be as epic as Cartman versus Kyle.
*Crippled God bitch slaps Clip*
Clip:ahhhh, stop, too hard, Crippled God.

Based on what? The DG was using Clip to get at the Andii and Coral. He failed. My read was that Mommy D and Nimander quite solidly pitched the DG right out of Clip and Clip is back to his usual arrogant pain in the butt we love to hate self.
I liked Clip - he was a solid 'bad guy, not quite bad guy'. I especially liked when Trull handed him his butt.
- Abyss, could say he got his wings clip'd...

Abyss is right more often than not
Don't count on the Dying God returning in any way, shape or form.
As for Clip, I think he's served his purposes and it's unlikely he'll play an important role in what's to come. Best forget about him, imo

Maybe Clip will appear in Dust of Dreams. It's supposed to take place on Lether, right? I can see Clip going back there in a hissy fit because the Andii in Black Coral will not fall over and worship the ground he walks on.
