Yes, from football that you can actually watch instead of the two hour long fall over and pretend you got hurt when there is no one near you football :D

You bait, I'll bite :D

You mean the football where every 15 seconds there's a minute stoppage time because the people on the field and their coaches on the byline need to talk about how they're going to get the next 3 yards of advancement, and where there is no fluidity of play because you can only pass the ball once?

Don't get me wrong, the more I watch American football, the more I like it (college football especially), but it has more stoppage time, far less flexibility and is more repetitive than euro football.

Yup thats the one. Perfect stoppage time for taking a drink of beer and talking to your friends. Think of each game of US football as a war, and each play is a battle between opposing forces, and each set of downs are a campaign to invade the enemy territory. Because that is how it is setup.

That's one interpretation. You could also say the sport is so specialized that it is drained of personal brilliance and initiative and is instead governed by the physical limitations of the athletes, and that in their drive for reliable plays, coaches have created a game where every variable apart from pass and catch is eliminated.

Once again, don't get me wrong: football coaches would love to do that, too, and up to a certain point, perfection is awesome and makes for an entertaining game. But the breaks in the NFL and NCAA football games are at the least as frequent and as long lasting as the "injury breaks" and time needed for free kicks in football (which we use to grab a beer and for toilet breaks), and that's not even counting time out, video reffing (which soccer should introduce asap) and the breaks between quarters, the time out being your complaint.

Err I didn't complain about the time out, you did. I was talking about the whole culture of faking injuries to try and get the other team in trouble that I have seen happen in the few games I have watched. (There was this awesome Irish pub I used to go to after work sometimes and if there was a game going on they had it on)

I feel like I've been a bit productive over the last week.

Sorted and ordered a computer for Sombra - Should be an epically awesome computer :D
Sorted my characters for both the D&D games I have coming up - Both 4th Ed: Level 21 Human Monk who moves a crazy, crazy amount and a level 4 Shifter Barbarian/Warden hybrid with a really large hammer, in case anyone was interested :p And I levelled up one of my other characters for shits and giggles
Helped Shiara with her characters - Made like 5 dummy characters in the process :p
The house is nice and clean.
Finished reading all the books set in the Mistborn universe.
Finally started reading one Neil Gaiman's books - I've only been meaning to do that for about 10 years :p

On top of all of that, I've been gifted a bunch of games on Steam from several friends (thanks again!) and I have the start of a three day LAN at a friends place tomorrow :D

And I'm typing this while I'm in a Google Hangout by proxy (Shiara is in it and I'm in the background)
"So how'd you save the world?"
"Averted the rapture by drowning the baby Jesus in his own tears"

Our financial man (alpha male hetero type) thought I was gay, which made for an extremely entertaining conversation about relationships and dating before I robbed him of that notion.

Hilarious. I'm still waiting for that conversation with my brother.

Who I'm 90% sure is gay. But he keeps trying to disprove it by introducing me to his 'hot' friends.

NONE OF WHOM ARE REMOTELY ATTRACTIVE.

Well, might be he has bad taste... One of my mates is a quite attractive guy (both in my estimate and that of other mutual male friends and in that of most women who have seen him) and he has a truly atrocious taste in women, his girlfriend excepted. Or is a realist and shags everything he can instead of pining for the unattainable. Or he's gay, of course.
