What's making me happy right now? Alcohol. Large large amounts.

I should probably start posting more constructive things to this thread other than saying I've been drinking.

Oh well.

My mom came back from france after a 6 months absence, and she brought me a cool new watch which is making me very happy..
also, I just plowed through the ending of RotCG which finally makes me free to sink my teeth into DOD!!
My Xbox just came back from being repaired from RROD with Assassins Creed II and Dragon Age as a bonus!!
and to top it all off I have a week long holiday!!
things are going dandy 'round here!!

ooh and I forgot, my driver's license comes out on Thursday.. :D

All this I cannot bear

Building a new garage at the house, they're pouring the concrete this week. 36x26 feet of man space. Its gonna be awesome.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

A lovely cup of tea. Had a great time with Rodeo, and he is heading off to Oxford now, and this cup of tea is soothing my slightly fragile stomach after masan's saddle kept pouring drinks into us last night... Posted Image

Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Just had my corrections accepted for the PhD thesis so the thing is finally over have to get it printed and bound but no more work on that giant steaming turd of work that I spent 4 years of my life working at. This is a great feeling and now I can continue with living out in Japan teaching english (had enough of medical microbiology by the end of the PhD). So will be drinking heavily to celebrate.

Wow Valgrad, massive congrats. I'm only half way through my PhD (assuming things go smoothly from now on, which is very very unlikely) and I know it can be very frustrating, so I can only imagine the relief and excitement at finishing.

Congratulations! :p Have fun celebrating! It's really a great achievement - I can imagine how good it must feel to finally close that chapter... (and hope in a year or two I will also know it first hand if my full-time work doesn't keep interfering with my research... :p )

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

Congrats Dr Valgard! If you are ever tempted to go back to research, I can assure you that it probably won't feel as bad as your phd. It is still awful at times but you kind of get used to it and convince yourself that everything is fine :p

And to all those working towards them, nothing I have encountered since my phd has been as hard so keep plugging away and remind yourself of the fact that nobody will ever really look at your thesis after your viva anyway (I don't even know where mine is right now!!).

Very true. That stuff was deliciously disgusting. :p

I passed my next round of Police Interviews! I think this pretty much means I have a job once I pass medical and police vetting, and seen as I am fit and healthy and I have a clean police record cos no-one has ever caught mecos I'm a well behaved member of society I should pass those! :p I am nearing the end of unemployment methinks. :p

And congrats Valgard, must be an amazing feeling!

After what seems like a week of trying to weave an elephant a waistcoat out of custard, I think I've finally managed to reconcile the post-war planning and architecture literature with Zygmunt Bauman, now we stir gently with some boozing and schmoozing this evening and allow the ideas to percolate.

Exciting times, as you can imagine.

It's been a bad week in the winning friends department. I am usually good at hiding my gumpy sod tendencies at work but this week I have managed to let people know that I don't care about their pet stories, am not interested in tales of their children, hate charity and despise Christmas.

We really need you in the Grumpy Old Sods group.

I got the word "boozing" :p

I have been teaching my friend Rome Total War and we just had a great evening killing French people and drinking beer. :p
