After seven months of unemployment, I am now gainfully employed again.  As an IT specialist my previously hard earned skils obviously make me ideally suited for the position of sous chef at the Horse and Jockey pub, Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire.  If any Malazanite is considering eating in our fantastic restaurant , let me know and I will ensure our friendly landlord welcomes you in the warmest possible way.

Seriously its a great pub with great food, and I am employed again!

Sounds like an ideal application of skills! I regularly drive right past you on the A419 on the way to and from Manchester, I might drop in sometime :( Is it expensive?

Congratz Hinter, you sound highly qualified for the job :(. I'm sure you'll do great.

In similar news, I am also gainfully employed once more. I'm no longer earning an exorbitant amount per hour for my age, but no more tutoring high school ignorami and I'll be getting many more hours.

I had the day off - which doesn't even come out of my leave - so I picked my new car up today, then bought an electric jug (for visitors, I don't drink coffee or tea) a vacuum cleaner (bagless technology now? Well I never ... ) and a microwave (ahhhh, finally I can use my freezer for more than just Homer Hudson Chocolate Rock ice cream. Which was fine on it's own I assure you. All 6 tubs :( ).

I'm in such a good mood I even tracked this song down. It's corny but it's great.

I'm going to enjoy this mood for as long as it lasts. Into tomorrow would be nice. Fingers crossed.

@ everyone - thanks for your congrats

@ Mappo - well done yerself - feels good doesn't it?

@ Brood - two fishcakes (made in house) with a bit of salad for a tenner is taking the piss imho, but they are bloody good. Let me know if you drop in and I'll do my best to sort you out! I believe from previous posts you are also a proper man and drink real ale, in which case you will not be disappointed because the beer is very well kept. At the moment we have Otter Bitter (3.6%) which is about the best big session beer I've ever had, Adnams Broadside (4.9%) a richer stronger beer for those who can walk home, Reverend James which I've never tasted and, finally, my all time favourite - Waddy's 6X. Now, being a born and bred Wiltshireman I was weened on 6X and am considered as something of an expert on the stuff and I've rarely tasted better 6 than we have here. And if you have one too many, I'm sure I can put you up on the sofa as well...Posted Image

What's making me happy...? I've started Xmas shopping. I know a lot of people would put this in the "Messing with your Groove" category but I love Christmas and I love Xmas shopping. If I may be allowed to brag a tiny bit, I always buy awesome presents. :o

I love me some Broadside. My aunt lives about three miles away from the Adnams brewery, so christmas gifts from her are always to be anticipated with joy :o And it's always hard to go wrong with a pint of Devizes' own.

Unfortunately when I go up to the manky meet I am going via Bath so I can give IH a lift, otherwise I would pop in en-route.

It was an epic football game. Down to the wire, nailbiting, heart-stopping, awesome game.

Well after months of complaining to Orange they finally decided to send me a new phone. My old one kept screwing up randomly and restarting and crashing in the most annoying places... I kept calling them and they told me to try it without the memory card in for a while or something. I get a new phone tomorrow. It's not loads better but hopefully it will work like its meant to!

@Anomander, I bet that's a nice feeling... :o

The dentist said I have fantastic teeth (despite not seeing a dentist for the best part of six years) and they are likely to stay that way for the rest of my life. And the whole thing was free. Safe.

Also, steak marinated in whisky with the gf whilst watching Firefly and nice wine is win. So is having an interview tomorrow morning Brilliant stuff. :p

Just had a meeting with my PhD supervisors, and they were really happy with me. Thank f*ck for that.

I was so nervous about it, that i couldn't sleep at all last night. Anxiety managed to keep me awake through the meeting, but i'm starting to crash now. Still it'll be a happy siesta.

You should have invited them out for lunch/alcohol. makes it go a lot smoother, and they're more likely to overlook their little quibbles, rather than blowing them out of proportion.
