I have sleep paralysis!

I went to the neurologist today for a (final!) test and consultation to discuss the results of several investigations into why I have been losing all feeling and movement in my limbs. And I now have an official diagnosis of sleep paralysis. Which is great because it's completely harmless.

And I am no longer having hemiplegic migraines (none in four months as opposed to multiple times a week) now that my prescription glasses are the correct prescription and not completely wrong (cheers for the incompetent optometrist man!).

So it was two separate issues that combined seemed really scary but turned out to be really benign in the end.

Also, my neurologist is this greek guy who looks like he should be in the 'construction business' and he kept saying 'Forget about it. Forget about it.' when I thanked him for all his help. It was hilarious. :p

My latest order of teas arrived :p Awesome! Mother dearest quipped something about why did we need another ten kinds of tea and where on earth I plan on storing that as the tea cabinet in the kitchen is bursting, but one can never have enough tea and also, some of the stuff we already have is almost gone, I just keep the pretty cans around, which are reusable.

Found a warehouse storefront for an online clothing store called Tragic Beautiful. They sell gothic/alternative clothing. Found and bought some pretty awesome t-shirts. My favourite being this one:

We also found the toy our son wants for Christmas. He only wants one thing - a roaring lion toy from the Lion Guard.
I was worried it was going to turn into a Jingle All the Way scenario as we couldn't find it anywhere despite several stores showing they add stock. Finally found one at our local Big W which we hadn't checked as it never stocks anything. Go figure.

We had friends over Saturday night for a Christmas themed horror movie night which was a lot of fun. The movies all turned out to be fun and/or good. Was really happy that my concussion fully lifted in time for it.

Yesterday we went to Shiara's parents place for her sister's birthday barbecue. I love visiting their place and not just because there is always delicious food. :p (But there is always delicious food!)

Tomorrow I'm going to the meat freezer at my friend's work (she's an ag teacher) to pick out a few giant roasts for Christmas. Also, I am going to get a heap of goat meat to use in curries. Haven't cooked much with goat so I'm looking forward to experimenting with dishes.

We are getting a new dishwasher installed tomorrow. The old one caught fire some weeks ago and I called today to let them know we would be faxing through a notice of breach since it's been over two weeks. Apparently that was enough to get the owner to move on it. So no more handwashing dishes (yeah, okay, like I did that. But at least now Matador won't have to handwash dishers).

Basically, life is good. :p

Try to get a younger goat for your first few times cooking with goat meat. Older goat tends to be stringier and needs a bit different technique to work into deliciousness.

My family usually gets 60 lbs of goat every October and shares it with many people. I'm not the expert cook of that in the family, but I do know that much.

Holidays! 4.5 days of bliss and doing nothing!

and might possibly go away for New Year's still. all depends on how much progress I make with my arm due to the swimming I'm about to get back into with a vengeance.

I got moved up to level 2 at my Jiu-jitsu gym. It's not really a big deal, not a belt promotion or even a stripe on my belt, it just means that I am trusted to do full speed sparring without breaking my or my partners arm accidentally. Still, it's progress.

I am so glad I started, I just with I would have started the first time I thought of it, in 1998. Imagine the progress I would have already had by now!

You're being trusted with the goal of faux maiming another person who's trying to do the same to you. It's a big step and it'll be fun as heck.

Get a decent mouthguard and plenty of tape. Good luck and may the tiny injuries not be too many.

In a surprisingly similar vein, I am now trusted to roll with anyone (including the giant American football players/wrestlers coming in off the street) and acquit myself well. Guess I'm finally settling in at purple belt.

Small world, I am the giant American football player/wrestler in off the street! Purple belt is very impressive and seems a long way away, especially since I can only train twice a week. I don't have any illusions about rocketing through the belts though, I'm content to stay at white for a long time as long as I am learning.

I'm not quite as giant as I used to be though. I'm going to miss my goal of losing 100 pounds by the new year by a bit. I'm down about 90 though, and that's good enough for now.

That is amazing RLY. Well done. And so cool that you have found a way to exercise that you enjoy so much.

Thanks mezla! Still a lot of work to do though. I want to lose at least another 65 or 70 pounds, but don't have any particular timeframe. As long as it's coming off I'm not going to stress about how quickly.
