Grats on the Pack there RLY. I didn't expect the Vikings to go into Lambeu and win, just happy they pushed into the playoffs.

How did you get FF1? I had an emulator and FF4 and 6 on my old phone but I never found FF1...

It was hardly a game. The Packers won handily.

Bought it from the apple store. It was like 8 bucks I think, a little pricey but I always regretted not playing this one. I never had a NES, my parents thought the Sega Master system would be just as good. It wasn't.

Err FF1 was never out in the US on the NES.

Is that the one with the shifting stats that go up when you use them and others go down when you dont?

Sounds like... FF2? FF1 is the WARRIORS OF LIGHT versus GARLAND THE MALICIOUS FLOWER COLLECTION and THE FOUR ELEMENTAL FIENDS and has Blackbelts and Ninjas and whatnot (I know very little of FF2).
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm happy to be home again. I love visiting my brother, but two weeks without running water or working heating, or in fact a toilet inside the house, when it's almost -20°C make me happy to have my own warm bed and a bathroom back.

Dying Trekkie gets private film screening

news.com.au
January 02, 2013 9:28AM

A dying Trekkie was given a private preview screening of the new Star Trek film when a post on Reddit caught the attention of director JJ Abrams.

A DYING Star Trek fan with only weeks to live has been given a private screening of the franchise's new film, after a Reddit post caught the attention of director JJ Abrams.

User ideeyut posted a callout for his friend Dan, saying his 41-year-old friend was suffering leukemia and desperately wanted to see Star Trek Into Darkness, or at least the nine-minute trailer that had been screened before some showings of The Hobbit.

The new film isn't due for release until May, but according to the posts, Abrams called Dan's wife and arranged the private screening for the dying fan.

Dan's wife was quoted in the post, saying, "There is nothing left to do but make him comfortable, at 41, he is jaundice & his liver is enlarged, his body has had enough, he has weeks to live."

According to the post, he was diagnosed with leukemia when he was 38, and had since been ravaged with more aggressive cancers.

The post was flooded with users posting contact details for the film studio, and offering to get in touch with contacts in Hollywood to make Dan's wish come true.

The original plea was posted on a Star Trek page of Reddit on Christmas Day, and was followed up on Saturday with this:

"He got to see it a couple of hours ago and loved it. JJ Abrams is the man. I'm going to buy an extra ticket for Dan when it comes out."

One of my best friends hung out with this guy at Action Fest this past year, made walking trips back and forth to the hotel with him, saw some screenings with him and had a few pints and chatted with him (all prior to his sudden diagnosis)...and was floored when he realized recently that it was thew same guy who made the news.

Good on JJ for going out of his way to help fulfill the man's wish.

According to my friend he was a really genuine and interesting guy to hang around.

Yuuuuuuup. I love how in law school they teach you that typos and citation fuckups are career killers but in real life almost everyone gives zero shits.

I didn't know they had Final Fantasy on the phone! I've got em all for PS though. That's pretty cool but I wonder how gameplay is for the touchscreen.

It's not bad. There is a virtual d pad that pops up on the left side of the screen when you are walking around. with a virtual speed boost button on the right. (This is very handy, makes walking across town go twice as fast.) ONce in a battle spells and commands are selected by tapping them, then tapping whjich enemy to attack, which is arguably even smoother than using a real controller. I have no complaints about the controls at this point.

Someone managed to get many of the professors, grad students, and staff from my college (UC Berkeley's college of chemistry) to do a music video.

I lol'd.
