Second evernote, very handy as it links your notes to the everymote system so losing your phone isn't losing your notes.
Why I wasn't so mad about losing my last phone, evernote plus the live contacts meant I lost very little

Yeah, but because this phone is going to change hands once a month it's not that much of an issue.

So, tonight is theoretically my last night (for a loooong time) where I will need glasses/any form of vision correction.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

My friend Chris, who had to withdraw from university because his financial aid didn't survive the partisan battles in the legislature, has taken his 6 months of free time to start a daily analysis / replay show for the game we both play, League of Legends. He started doing it pretty much just out of boredom, but he's a top 5% player and he's really insightful.
Anyhow, after a month of doing it, he got interviewed by one of the major community sites, and he's a featured commentator now. Which is pretty sweet.
He tried to play competitively last year, but he never got to the top, tippy top level where your team gets invited to tourneys and with national coverage. But now he's got recognition, and he's so much happier now than he's been in at least 2 years.
I'm pretty happy for him, and there's some community momentum to get him on the tournament webcast commentator team for one of the next big tournaments. And those spots actually pay money!
(if anyone plays LoL, he's Studio, and he runs the Studio Daily. Ex: Studio Daily #19)

Having far too much fun with this game
On the plus side I am also being otherwise productive... due to gym going and general healthiness I have lost 9kgs
I am pleased
Edit: also, dancing around my house cleaning to very loud old school metal/rock is fun... I am so domestic

The application slowly builds. $400 bones to a passport is a big ass commitment for me. It's like an all in thing. Which is why I like it. At least it's movement.
Terrifying.
Terrifying.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Came across some sort of special edition of Dorian Gray today, so naturally I used the last of my money on it as opposed to getting lunch. I regret nothing, although my stomach is to the contrary...
And I bought a printer.
Ive never had one before, it's amazing. I love great days.

Saw John Carter* with the lady yesterday, then chilled out in the sunshine and watched 30 Days of Night (finally) at hers later. Really good day.
Now off to see some buddies of mine then it's roast meal day tomorrow, fun times are here again!
*Surprisingly good, and definitely worth a watch.

I too saw John Carter yesterday (2D of course). I agree that it could have been better (especially the love story, and the River to Iss bit), but overall it was good matinee type fun.
