That's okay; he doesn't. He says that there are definate advantages to dating a female gamer (i.e they appreciate the awesomeness of a new game thus allowing their partners free range of the TV for a week upon purchase of a new highly anticipated game....less anticipated games only get two days :p )

You realize I've played the game for over 6 hours and still have yet to meet the guy you are putting perfume on for, right? SIDE CHARACTER BURN!

Loki, I kept meaning to ask what you were counting down to for so long. I've worked it out now but for the longest time I assumed you were getting married!

I'll get there at some point.

Spent my lunch break scrolling through the drama on the Mass Effect 3 forums. (For those who didn't notice Loki's countdown in several sections of this forum: it is a newly released space opera game that ends a trilogy and offered both excellent gameplay and an above average story in the first 2 installments).

Apparently, the unwashed masses are displeased with the possible endings to the game and vent their rage in such impotent ways that it almost becomes cute in the same way a three-legged puppy would be: they just can't help it and their handicap is there for all to see and fuss over. It turns out there are a lot of three-legged puppies in the world of computer gaming.

Were I a smarter guy, I'd pose a philosophical question like 'what is more important, the journey or the destination?'. I'm not, and thus this nerd-rage over pixels becomes, in a cruel way, a slapstick comedy which manages to cause a diabolical sense of pleasure at other people's emotions in me.

If people react this badly to a 10 minute game sequence after having an amazing ride through around a 100 hours of gameplay (which, after all, made them buy this 3rd game), what will they do when they get into a real crisis? Roll into a fetus position, whimper and cry that it isn't fair, boohoo? Gosh, grow a pair.
Everyone is entitled to his own wrong opinion. - Lizrad

I bought a cello this weekend! Woo-hoo! Sexy tunes, here I come!

I thought that was a kind of funny email sent around our department today. It made me chuckle anyways.

"Dear all,

One of the questions I’m often asked in the CCC office is, “James, why don’t you run more competitions?”

Well, we take your feedback very seriously and I can therefore announce that we have two copies of Prof Lewis Wolpert’s book, You’re looking Very Well, to give away…in Korean.

To win reply to with two affirmatives to the following questions:

1) Can you read Korean?
2) Would you like a free copy of You’re Looking Very Well by Lewis Wolpert, in Korean?
The first two winning entries will be informed by e-mail and may collect their prize from Anatomy 117.

If you can’t answer yes to both questions, please don’t reply as that will turn your entry into division wide spam.

Best,
James."

For privacy protection reasons I have obviously changed name and office.

but are they worth preserving?

I'm undecided over this which is why I haven't chosen to moan too much about the ending of the remake of Battlestar Galactica....
