First day of actual Uni classes today. It was pretty good.
I was singled out in the tutorial class, and the teacher already really likes me.
I've already studied (independently) most of the content, so I am ahead of the class.

At the end she asked me to stay back if I wasn't busy, and we chatted for a little while.
She encouraged me to do a double-degree, she said she thinks I could easily handle it. :)

I think I shall do a double degree. I'm looking at perhaps Anthropology or physics. So many decisions. Or maybe I'll just do a double major. I'm not quite sure yet.

But yes, I am happy. ;)

Awesome! Sounds like a great first day at Uni. You have quite obviously left an impression.... And as for the second course- go for something that doesn't come easily to you. That's why I went for Science, rather than a language degree. But maybe you're the kind of genius who can do anything. In that case, it doesn't matter.

Be careful calling 40 ELDERLY! Geez! :p

Yeah... you don't wanna blow your great first impression by calling your colleagues old. Even though they will think of you as the little one :)

@Aint it just: I was surprised myself at how many elderly people there are. Literally a third of one of my classes was over the age of 40.
And I prefer it that way.

Elderly??? ;)

Received Chronicles of the Black Company today, it was shipped at the 20th and it arrived today.

Usually orders from the Book Depository take two weeks to arrive, I didn't expect it to arrive until next week.

Now to finish Orb, Sceptre, Throne.

Evening out at the Natural History Museum. Wine and the Scott Antarctica exhibition followed by more wine whilst wandering about and looking at fossils and dino bones.

I wanna go and see that too- is it any good? Even with no wine available?

I bet it was cool.

It would be rather disappointing it if was anything but cool.

It was very cool. I highly recommend it. They have bits of their original kit, lots of photographs, some original film and loads of inventories of their food. Turns out they took a lot of jam to the south pole! There are also some of their scientific sketches and specimens, a comparison of the route and strategy that Amundsen took and some diary and letter extracts from the guys who died as they realised their number was up. The most interesting bit for me was the focus on some of the other reasons they were in Antarctica and some of the other expeditions they did as well as going to the pole. I knew about the Scott vs Amundsen bit but not that some of the other men were stuck in an ice cave for 6months, burning seal blubber to stay alive and then walked 6 weeks back to base, half starved!

I take it back! I take it back! :)

Poor choice of words...
There were a few women there, I don't know how old they were, but they all claimed to have children in their thirties, therefor I assumed they were borderline elderly. :)
If I look back, I am lost.

I was supposed to have a job interview for Red Lobster today...

but it turns out their training week happens March 3-10 from 9 to 5...when I have school.
So now I have to wait until after the 13th, then send in a whole new application...again.

Why is that a good thing? Or did you accidentally post in the wrong thread? If so, don't worry - we all do it at some point :)

Oops..haha! All right, my mistake. ;)

You know, this fumble is making me kinda happy, in a weird way.
Messing up makes me remember I am human, after all.

After my first day of uni I have spent the evening playing ME2 followed by season 5 ST:TNG with a bottle of wine.

Gods, I'm genuinely happy these days!

So, I've mentioned my new bf is awesome, right? How awesome, you say? So awesome he gets hold of tickets to Rammstein, which have been sold out since December, doesn't tell me about it, but takes me out to dinner with a couple of friends of ours on the day they're playing (which I had forgotten about) and then tells me we're just going to hang out afterwards. After dinner we get in the car and he drives us out to where a friend of his lives. But when we get out of the car we don't go to the friend's house, but to the nearby football stadium where Rammstein is playing...and I had no effin clue! I grinned like an idiot during the whole concert and for many, many days afterwards ;)

He also makes me dinner whenever I come over... He's so damn sweet!

I almost wish he was my boyfriend. Unfortunately, perhaps, I'm not gay and would, therefore, probably find it most unnerving.

Recommended Malazan to the new guy in eServices - he went out and bought the first book on my word alone. This morning I find the following message on my G+ newsfeed:

Quote

I hadn't picked you as the bloodthirsty type, but I'm about a ⅓ of the way through Deadhouse Gates, and the gore and violence and cloying despair haven't really let up since the start of the series.

I'm tempted to move desks so my back isn't to the door, seeing as your card gets you into our room.

Haha. Seriously, all things considered, the Prologue of Deadhouse Gates might be the single coolest thing I've ever read.

Thanks for your comprehensive summary of the exhibition! I shall venture down South for a visit. I love the picture they put up all over the tube with on of the adventurers doing a headstand in his gear and the Antarctic ice. That's really what caught my attention. And made me wanna go see it.
