DOCTOR WHO Series 6 BluRay set got delivered directly to my desk at work. Teh future, she is teh awesome!

Within the same delivery from amazon, and aside from a few baubles and odds and ends, I am pretty much totally done Christmas shopping, and the majority of it was done online from my chair! Giggety.

Oh and I purchased everything on my credit card and then paid it off, thus do I walk into the holiday season with presents for all, and no debt!

My wife today said "I think you should drink whisky tonight, you haven't had any for a while." I love that woman...

Also, my leave has been authorised and i now have 12 days off over Christmas & get to see family.

Also my parents are coming over for the weekend and I never see them.

So, when I'm listening to my iPod, I always sing along to whatever is on, I come up to a crosswalk, and this old blind woman hears me singing and taps on my shoulder (well she tried to) and I take my headphones out and say hello.

Turns out she'd gotten lost and nobody would give her directions (since people around here are trained to ignore panhandlers, etc). She heard me singing and was so happy to get someone who spoke english to talk to her.

She was only a block from where she was trying to go, so I helped her across the street and down the block. We got to the office she was trying to get to and both she and the secretary thanked me profusely. The office thought she wasn't coming and was going to cancel her appointment (I don't know for what exactly).

It's nice to be a good samaritan sometimes.

Just got my results for the first module of my OU Physics degree. It was a maths module; nothing spectacularly involved, of course, but it has been nearly 20 years since I last integrated in anger.

And I passed! :p

69% is not a brilliant score tbh, but it is passable (if you pardon the pun)

Not bad for an old man ;)
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. 69% is a great score. Anything above 70% is a waste of effort at BSc/MSc levels :p

Got roped into going to taste the work Christmas party menu. I'm not a fan of Christmas but I am a fan of eating, drinking and making merry. Free fine dining 3 course lunch will do very nicely thank you, although I will have to eat the same again next Friday night. And I'm out for another Christmas party tonight with another 3 courses. I like a challenge but I could do with an afternoon nap which wouldn't go down well in the office.

Ace'd my Numerical Methods course from hell, so the job is fully refunding me the entire monetary cost... plus instead of busting my ass on HW, I'm relaxing listening to Led Zeppelin I on vinyl!!!

I cracked open GotM on a whim as I passed the hardback section of the used bookstore, and I reeled from how god damned awesome of a writer SE is. After finishing everything, I've been off reading other authors, content in what I had completely forgotten was relative mediocrity. I had been reluctant to start a reread, but now I have to wait until after final exams, chomping at the bit.

Just got to finally donate money (I had NO money til yesterday) to a Movember fundraising page, which gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. It's for a guy called Philip Bloom, who has provided a huge amount of free info (and inspiration) for people like me who are trying to learn more about Indie film-making. So I get to help a good cause, show appreciation for someone helping others learn, and on top of that, I also get entered into a huge draw to win camera/video products. Win, win, win. I feel happy.
