The stupid, pointless, wasteful, ego-stroking (for the guy running it, not us plebs) exercise that I have been whinging about and training (read: revising basic soldier skills with mind-numbing powerpoint sessions) for during the last 2 weeks has been postponed/cancelled due to all the rain at Rockhampton. A little good from all that bad. :p :p

No running around like a mad thing in a mosquito/snake/spider/crocodile infested swamp for me! Bear Grylls, you are welcome to that shit. :(

Not that I mind going out field, I just mind when it's pointless and in a ghastly place. In all seriousness, the recce team found that the snake activity was WAY up compared to usual as their holes were under water. They were pissed off and aggressive too. Not a good thing when the place is full of King Brown and Taipan snakes, 2 of the top 5 deadliest in the world. The recce team spotted 3 King Browns in less than an hour when they were there just over a week ago. A soldier (can't recall if he was Yank or Aussie) on an exercise there in recent years died from snakebite when one got into his bedding while he was on picket (he didn't close it up) and he was bitten multiple times when he got back into it.

Apparently 4WD vehicles couldn't even move off-road as they got stuck immediately. Even the gravel roads were bogs.
And they were expecting us to bed down and do section/platoon level attacks in that shit.

Fuck you, high command. :gando:

spring is here.
and I actually did some cleaning. I discovered, that under that pile of crap to the right of my laptop, there was an actual desk, still.

with this, I am now feeling a renewed sense of purpose, as the exam season approaches.

Cleaned out my computer, far too much dust had accumulated.

The new woman I've been seeing for the past few weeks has declared she's too busy for a relationship but likes having sex with me. So we're doing that. I guess. I'm not really sure what's going on but all right.

I'm not sure if this good or bad.

Good until you fall for her, I guess. Or you will finally come to accept that it is a purely physical relationship, at which point she will fall for you.

Plus, Raraku is being affectionate which is awesome because she usually just demands food and then leaves again. She's purring too! :)

Just watched the latest episode of LEWIS (the Inspector Morse spin-off). Forgot how much i love that show. I find the sedate pace is a welcome change from the majority of TV shows.

I did also forget how deadly Oxford can be.

Hell yeah! So glad there's a new series - this and Midsommer Murders are a nice healthy dose of murder every week.

It would appear sleepy towns in England are not very safe places. Midsommer must have the highest per capita murder rate in the world?

Something close. I love the new Barnaby though, he's pretty funny.

Spring Rolls (restaurant) for dinner tonight and then Jane Eyre flick with the gf at the VIP theatre. Sounds like a good night to me.
