Took the little 'un to see Santa on Saturday. He's 7 so we are starting to get twitchy about him seeing through 'the magic'. The look on his face. He 100% believes.

You poor thing Sombra, why would someone subject you to cricket, and in Christmas time as well? That's just mean.

I shall suffer in a semi-dignified silence. Honestly wouldn't wish it upon anyone else.

Huh, turns out I had more holiday days left than I thought.
So tomorrow will be my last working day this year. Didn't expect that.
Got a chunky bonus this year, too. Life's feeling pretty decent right now.

Wife got a job with First Transport customer service in Sheffield. Means she still has four weeks with no work / no income, but with a bit of help we should be able to muddle through to the end of February when she should start seeing some income again.

Oh good news Maark. I take it she's doing ok otherwise? Customer service for public transport can be a little intense (people love to complain!) But I bet she'll rise to the challenge

Maybe ask her why half the time the bleeding First buses terminate partway through the journey because they have no driver availability at the interchange. Bloody nuiscance. Seems to happen less on Stagecoach. But then the hybrid SC buses keep breaking down all over the place.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I'll tell her if a grouchy Dutch from the uni calls in saying this to tell you hi
But thanks all, she really needs this tbh and the fact the salary is comparable to mine is pretty huge.
Also on Friday I found out I'm getting an unexpected (albeit small) pay increase so that was nice.

Very pleaaed for you and your missus, mate👍
On a completely unrelated note, I went to London last weekend for three nights of concerts by my favourite band (De Staat, from the Netherlands) who decided to divide their music back catalogue up into three 'flavours': aggressive/rock (Red) on Friday, quirky/dancy (Yellow) on Saturday, and melancholy (Blue) on Sunday. Three amazing yet completely different concerts (with two bloody drum kits on stage on the Sunday!), with some material they had seldom or never played live before. Absolute heaven. Plus I got me a setlist sugned by all band members, which now proudly hangs framed above my computer desk. Awesome.

Thanks, we need this pretty badly and it's come at just the right time - another month and we'd be needing parental handouts to keep a roof over our head. Hopefully she settles into it well.

Some more good news... Turns out wife has enough to her name to get through to her first payday with First without us getting any help from parents.
This means I am financially much more able to enjoy myself, so I treated myself to pre-ordering the remastered Tomb Raider trilogy earlier. ^^
