Well, my wife had a scan yesterday - she's 12 weeks pregnant. I hadn't really believed it until I saw the screen, showing a very clear picture, arms and legs moving about and everything!

So good news for the family this christmas!(Still can't quite believe it...)

congrats Traveller. And remember,

if it's a boy - Ganoes,
a girl - Apsalar......
meh. Link was dead :(

Congrats Traveller. At least that means a summer birthday. Or are you from that other hemisphere? Long way away from christmas anyway which is what matters :p

Thanks! Yep, the due date is around end of June/beginning of July, if everything goes ok. A summer birthday will be good, as our birthdays are both in January.
(although I have managed to spend my last two birthdays in the maldives - staying on a sunny island is significantly better than, well anything in England at that time of year)
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Nice work Trav, looks like yours is due at the same time as some friends of mine. :p

I am happy because this arrived today:

https://secure.blind...&cat=249&page=1

Add that to the 2 Paul Kearney books (The Ten Thousand and This Forsaken Earth) that arrived a couple of days ago and it's all good. :p

Plus I have been home for the last week, staying with my wonderful Mum and have seen heaps of my friends. Lots more to go though!

Gave me a good laugh/startle for the day.

Also I am in my parents house in the forest. It is really nice up here... and actually rained a bit so there is enough water in the tanks and it isn't brown! Not quite as much fun as last time I was up here since I have been cooking all day with mum. But still nice.

I'm also really happy cos I reached my goal of loosing 10kg by Christmas :p and a haircut - though that was less work :p

Congratulations Traveller, if you start reading SE to the young one whilst still in the womb, I'm sure he/she will grow up to be a pillar of the community like the rest of us malazanites (!?).

Happiness is not working Christmas day when I thought I would be. Restaurant cancellations mean I will be in the bosom of my family tomorrow instead of cooking for people to lazy to stick a turkey in the oven. 0730 start on Boxing day though so I'll go easy on the brandy butter.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Car park offers wider spaces, signs to help women drivers in need

* From correspondents in Beijing
* From: AFP
* December 29, 2009 10:56AM

A SHOPPING centre in China has opened a car park that offers women drivers bigger-than-normal parking spaces to accommodate what it sees as their special needs.

Wang Zheng, an official at the Wanxiang Tiancheng shopping centre in Hebei province's Shijiazhuang city, told AFP the women-only parking lot aimed to address women's "strong sense of colour and different sense of distance".

The spaces are "one metre wider than normal parking spaces", Mr Wang said, adding that the mall had "installed signs and security monitoring equipment that corresponded more to women's needs".

Driving in China is notoriously dangerous, with nearly 73,500 people killed in road accidents last year, or just over 200 fatalities per day, according to police statistics.

:p

That's right, Mr Wang - rub it in their faces! :p
