My cousin, who gave birth to a stillborn at 38 weeksa t the beginning of this year, got pregnant again and gave birth to a healthy baby last night. She and her husband have had a really stressful and painful year so I'm really happy for them both.

Got the retention bonus at work meaning pay this month will be doubled.

Most of the extra is going into getting this house ready for the market , but I'll have a bit left to play with.

Hey Morgoth, your country owes mine a decent Christmas tree. I went to see the Trafalgar Square one at the weekend. I had seen photos and read about people saying it was a shit tree but I figured the photos would be purposefully from a bad angle and a tree that big has to be majestic either way. Wrong! They should have left the poor thing in the ground.

I have been attempting to have a reusable live tree the last 3 years so as to be more sustainable. I bought a live tree in a pot in 2019 but forgot to water it enough in summer 2020 so it became fire wood. The 2020 purchased tree was a little more loved but not consistently so has lost its needles closest to the trunk but put on patchy extra growth in a different texture and colour. So I bought more tinsel to cover it up. Bringing it indoors today and hoping for the best. I don't think I'm having the intended environmental impact but it's making me chuckle either way.

Because of Brexit we're legally obliged to save our good trees for the EU.

Oh yeah, I'm really jazzed up for the James Webb Space Telescope launch tomorrow (Dec. 24/Xmas Eve). But man I'm also worried something will go wrong because there are a lot of steps and moving parts that have to be executed to get it functioning.

[EDIT] huh, launch got moved to Christmas day.

Well, at 33 weeks 5 days our twin girls have arrived! They have to stay in NICU due to their prematurity so right now we're just at hospital waiting for all the bits to be sorted but my wife has been amazing and delivered naturally which we weren't sure would happen with twins.

Very excited, even though we won't be taking them home for a while...

Mother doing well, we've not actually seen the babies much since the theatre as they were whisked away. Don't think there's anything wrong with them per se, they're just so little.

Woop woop! Fantastic news and what you're experiencing with the NICU is normal given the circumstances. Lots of cuddles to come though!

Jolly good. Regards to Lady Tiste and the Tistelings.

When will you be doing the obligatory "showing the babies to the island"?

I'm brimming with joy for you all. I'm glad you're in a situation where the little ones can get the care they need.
