Just got confirmed into a funded new research program. My PHD can kick into gear as the co-ordinator will double as my supervisor. After being a jobless stay at home for nearly a Year this is quite a welcome shift.

Hungover and tired, and leaving Beijing. Sad times
But, we're through to the champs league final
And I'm going on a bullet train to Shanghai, never been on one before, child like excitement bubbles

Woo, Chartered Scientist certification has finally been granted. With a shiny plaque and all. Now do I stick my new shiny CSci title before or after my PhD title? Oh yeah, oh yeah, making y'all feel inferior. Strut. Learning on the job, kids, it never stops.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Back in Ireland and it's actually sunny.
Sucks that my holidays over but it's always nice to get home.
Now the real test, I'm about 50 miles from home on the bus (no bullet trains here sir) usually when I get to the 15/20 mile marker the rain starts.

Posting here for the first time in a loooong time.
You’ve never heard of the Silanda? … It’s the ship that made the Warren of Telas run in less than 12 parsecs.

Dad finally has a definite surgery date of next Monday. Feels like a bit of a weight off to know it's now booked!
Also, please tell me "Yorkshire grimdark" is indeed a thing

Spent an entire evening at a professional/networking event. And it wasn't as painful as it can be on occasions.
Afterwards went to a bar with a few of the people I met there, and there ran into a person I haven't seen in 5 years.
Small world

Passed my home inspectors license exam. 190 questions, 2.5 hours.
I’d have bet you a shiny nickel I’d failed it, but I passed.

Congratulations on the future of climbing up into attics and looking into basements to find the remains of the questionable decisions of previous occupants.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.
