Ah yeah! USA! USA! USA!

US Women's Soccer Team beat Team Canada tonight 3 - 1.

The other night we played them to a 1 - 1 draw, which should never happen (especially to Canada). The officiating in that match was for shit. So much dirty play by the Canadians that they were allowed to get away with. I loathe Christine Sinclair on Team Canada. She's the dirtiest bully of the bunch.

USA! USA! ALL THE WAY USA!

[EDIT] They call these matches "International Friendlies". That don't seem to be that "friendly" though. hmmmm...

I would not worry, we shellack them in pretty much any sport that matters...

And with the Winter Olympics coming up...school is about to (once again) be in session.

Just got back from my first ever De Staat concert. On a circular podium. Which rotated. In a tent. With spectacular lighting. I have been to a lot ( and I mean A. LOT.) of concerts, but this easily ranks top 3. Dear Gods. Just wow. Wow. I am happy. Bloody extasy.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Has anyone here listened to Mozart's Reqiuem? I just finished, and it has to be one of the most sublimely beautiful things I have ever heard. The last part moved me to tears.

My dad is a big Classical music fan, so I've been into Mozart since I was a kid. Yeah I heard Requiem as a child and have loved it ever since! My wife and I even saw it performed live, which was AMAZING!

Then there is this, which is a fictional representation of him creating it...

For the most part I prefer Beethoven over Mozart. His symphonies have a majesty and grandeur to them that I love. But the Requiem is something else entirely. Thanks for the link QT!

I took a walk outside early in freezing weather and promptly slipped on Ice. Didn't fall. Slid across the road then walked off like I meant to do that.

I just needed to tell someone dammit, for like half a second I was Iceman!

LOL! It's like a weird vaudeville routine.

I realize I like my Job.

For years I have listened to friends mock the fact that I was doing a PhD. Id here things like 'I cant, I actually have a job', 'Wait till you get a job' etc. I have no idea how I gave them an impression that a PhD was a simple thing but I can say unequivocally that my job is awesome. Its less stressful, it actually pays, Its doing something fulfilling etc. Best of all no one including me expects me to work nights or weekends anymore. I have been working for almost 3 months now and I love it. No stress, no anxiety, no dealing with shitty supervisors or university bureaucracy.

Hey now. University bureaucracy is a wonderful thing! It keeps me safe and cushy in my job :p

Giving thanks in the middle of the year is tempting fate.
