Oh and I unblocked a horrendously blocked outside drain today. We have been poking at it with sticks for a week or two (relationship metaphor possibly) but then my concentrated sulphuric acid came in the post and I got a small chemical burn on my forearm. But the water is flowing again so all worthwhile.

This is an extremely funny post. Good luck with not burning yourself in the future.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Nothing like a good chemical burn makeover to rekindle a relationship.

Lol. Is that Emile from Robocop? If so that is one of Mr PigDogs favourite films and it is so uncanny I'm worried you have a wiretap.

Got into our Daycare of choice for the little one when the time comes at the end of Mat Leave. It's also KIND of messing because of the cost being so ridiculous in our city for care. We only have to manage that exorbitant rate for 6 months though as once she hits 18months old, the cost drops by a few hundred dollars. This place is apparently incredible though, and one of the best in the city (if not THE best)...so at least our daughter will be well looked after.

That's really great, QT!
The idea of having to use daycare is terrifying to me and I am beyond grateful that it's not something we have to worry about. But if things changed and we had no choice, then knowing that you are sending them somewhere that has a trustworthy reputation and is well-sought after would make the process easier I would imagine.
I suspect the higher cost is due to the need for extra staff in the 0 to 18 months room. Over here, the ratio for kids to carer is different depending on the age range. The pre-toddler rooms need more staff for less kids.

Yeah, the extra cost is fairly typical for the 0-18mntbs crew across most care centres here. But the city is about $500/mnth more than the suburbs charge for the same...so it's still kinda steep.
My sisters two kids (both grown now) had my brother-in-law's retired mother to look after them, I wish we had that too! LOL
Ah well. It's good to know she's in a trustworthy, reputable place. That helps me with the notion of how expensive it is.

Couldn't disagree more, BK. I think people should invest more in Stasis Vats for the home. Sure they seem expensive, but it's a one-time charge (+ maintenance) and no muss no fuss -- as opposed to years of monthly payments that could rise at any time, plus travel time, plus human error.

Deactivated Facebook again.
Such a terribly easy way to waste time on.
Glad it's gone again, the only reason I even had for keeping it about was messenger, but the person I was using it to messenger. I just got their number and can text/WhatsApp then instead.
So Facebook's timezone is gone and messengers battery drain on my phone is gone too.

My son runs into the room:
"Mummy! Please put my superhero cape on me because when me was looking for the things I need for my Ben 10 party I saw footprints and me thought 'It's a mystery!' And then me follow the footprints and saw a spaceship!!! And it was a benomoths alien ship! See?! There's the benomoth now! Don't worry Mummy! Me, Ripley Wheeldon, will save you!!!"
After battling the xenomorph -
"Mummy! Me go to fight the benomoth and me say 'Why you a bad guy, benomoth?' And the benomoth, it say 'Me not! You the bad guy!' And me say, 'No me not!'
Then me tell the benomoth to calm down. Just calm down and tell me. The benomoth thought WE were the bad guys! But me say 'No, we good guys!' And now the benomoth is nice because is was a mis...misnunder...thing."

Are you sure? Cuz what I thought starts with an M and ends with an urder-Suicide, but what I am going to say is they are living happily ever after and all our concerns about how fast they were moving -- however well-intentioned -- were for naught.
