Academy's starting one week earlier than expected, because they had made a mistake on the date and just today it came out. Yay ;) And yes, I'm actually happy it's starting, been loafing around for far too long, and besides, I just freaking love the small castle the academy resides in and don't ger me started on that library they've got.. :D We'll see if I'm still that enthusiastic one year from now, when I've been desperaty trying to scrape together the money to pay for the fun, but that's still to be seen. For now, I'm just happy.

Futile protests:

The University of California (~8 campuses) is having a "walk out"tomorrow in protest of budget cuts. It's laughable and pathetic, and not to mention a completely fruitless gesture targeting the wronggroup of administrators. Protests have targeted the highest UCadministrators, while the budget cuts have been from the State. People are dumb, not to mention funding cuts have happened pretty regularly for the last 30 years.

800-900 faculty members statewide have signed on to not work tomorrow and picketwith the students. However, these people have nothing to do with me. There's only one physical science / engineering signatory. And it's a secretary for the Engineering department. So... I'm going to go to class anyway.

There will be picket lines at every major entrance to my campus. I am going to cross every one of them, multiple times, because that's the kind of spiteful misanthrope that I am.

This post is making me happy.

The only thing worse than hippies are rent-a-crowd hippies who don't even have a clue as to what/who to protest accurately about. They should all be hung by their stupid tea-cosy hats. To the music of the John Butler Trio, yet another bunch of hippie fuckwits.

Having the week off and thus being able to post at almost midnight is also making me one with teh happy.

I'm still on holiday from work! And apart from being sad about leaving Mr PigDog for 2 weeks again, I am enjoying being at home alone. The bottle of wine that accidentally got popped has nothing to do with things, I'm sure. However, I should have bought cake.

Mmm, cake.

I'm happy because my new job is working out well, despite the fact that I can't check the forum any time I feel like it - I have to wait until I get home now!

Good to be back in the operating theatre again though, and good to be busy and occupied at work again rather than bored and disinterested. Long shifts, but only 4 days a week of 'em! :D
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Of course it is! (ahem)

Drug calculations are going fine thank you, and I haven't had to mix any solutions up and hopefully won't have to!

That should go into the Messing with your Groove thread. Did you see the Bears v. Ducks game? Pure tragedy.

Hang on... You only bought it three weeks ago...

And I also am not at work. So there
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

My little Cheza, the gekka-bijin I got from a friend two years ago, finally has her first flower tonight. She only blooms at night, for one night only, and I'm enjoying the show right now... So I thought I might share some of her beauty with you. :p
