Had a very interesting chat with a fellow recreational pharmaceutical abuser today. He pointed out that seeing as how I'm single with no family I should look into a sober living house outside the borders of the US.
VERY intriguing thought.

And my freedom is pretty much assured. All the paperwork is in, an affidavit is signed by both my ex and I saying the court date is not necessary since all documentation is agreed upon with nothing outstanding, and my ex took the mandatory parenting-after-divorce class (which allowed me to get the kids an extra night
).
I think this is it. I am done unofficially, with the official documentation sometime mid next month. SUCH A RELIEF! I am finally free.

There are two playgrounds at our local shopping centre. One is inside and one is outside. I prefer taking Rip to the outdoor one as there tends to be more dads there with their kids than the one inside. (As a general rule, I try to avoid other mothers in order to avoid 'mothers'. You know, those 'holier than thou' types who make jokes about their 'useless' husbands and make casual judgements about other parents/children, and whose child/ren are perfect little prodigies etc).
There were two dads and I there and somehow we started talking about the television shows our kids like to watch. Then we started to discuss milestones.
Dad 1 - 'T goes to one of those Montessori schools. I think it's a bunch of shite but my wife is into all those 'advance child' programs. She used to play Mozart to T before he was even born. But he still eats dirt and insists on wearing his nappies on his head. I think he gets it from me.'
Dad 2 - 'L keeps insisting that green is pink. Pink is still pink but so is green. My wife thinks it means she is coloured blind. I explained how there's no colourblindness on either side of our family and that green/pink blindness isn't a thing but she's making us get her tested. I asked L to short some coloured blocks and she separated the green from the pink. I asked her why she called the green block pink and she said she didn't like the way green tasted in her mouth so she made it pink.'
Me - 'I've been trying to teach Ripley to count to three but he always counts '1,2,6,7,8,9,10,11,12'. Which makes no sense to me since his counting books only go up to 10.'
Dad 2 - 'Our kids are awesome.'
Dad 1 & Me - 'Yep.'

A vigourous and productive day, followed by an absolutely excellent anniversary dinner. I really really needed this

This is going to be our first long weekend (ie three day weekend) in about seven years where Matador doesn't have to work one of the days.
Once we get the usual weekend stuff sorted tomorrow, we will have two and a bit days of unscheduled bliss.

Academic term is finished and my grades are in.
I got excellent grades (I wanna brag more but I won't), which is making me happy. Considering the fact that I do not deserve good grades when looking at the effort I put in.
I would be even happier if my chosen summer job did not look like an ocean of pain for the next four months, and if I wasn't such a miserable bastard.

And once again I am both intrigued and confused by the whole procedure. I only really know what's happening about the 49ers cos I follow them on Twitter but the whole process is a bit bizarre!

I'm going back to being a photographer's model for the first time tomorrow. I'm really nervous and excited. Haven't done it in years because I think I did it young enough that I was still very much swallowed by "must be pretty and thin at all costs". It'll be nice to do it free of all of that and just for fun.
I'm getting to wander around a really pretty stately hall and grounds and pretend to be something of a cross between a princess and a forest spirit for half a day. And I was promised tea and cake at the hall's coffee shop - successful pitch material right there.
Aaaargh! Wish me luck!

Queensland Health payroll messed up recently and a lot of the staff at Matador's hospital didn't get paid. Since it's a breach of contract not to get your base salary the union made them force through payments for the doctors (the nurses etc didn't get anything. Some weren't paid for a month
).
So the overtime from last fortnight got paid this fortnight on top of this fortnight's overtime. It means more tax is paid but it also means that we have some disposable cash just in time for the long weekend.
We have unanimously agreed to spend it on new board games. XD
It's late night shopping in the city tonight so we are heading in once Matador gets home.
I'm in favour of getting Betrayal at House on the Hill or either Arkham Horror or Mansions of Madness (I'm a big fan of Eldritch Horror). Matador is in favour of On Her Majesty's Service, Ghost Stories, or The City of Emerald. So there's a good chance we'll be coming home with more than one game.

The podcast interview with SE Ribald has posted - I mean, all his interviews are great, but it sounds like a TV/film deal might well be on its way!
