The road trip was awesome!!! It might be all the farts I've inhaled talking, but I love spending three weeks in a car with three dudes in the desert an stuff!

We should all go on a road trip together. Route 66 comes highly recommended by me.

In celebration of your Route 66 trip, a local story from our good friends in Barstow (somewhat local I mean, I swear I don't actually live in Barstow):

I spent a night in Barstow...

Also, I sold two malazan books to a customer yesterday....And so it begins!

Watched World War Z, went in deciding to enjoy as a zombie movie not as a WWZ movie, kinda liked it, led to the best convo between me and my girlfriend:

Me: "If I get bitten, I'm going to find some foam hands, a big foam ball, a crown, lots of tape, and a ton of wind powered chimes and noisemakers, cut a hole in the dome big enough for my head, attach all the noisy things, stick my head in and tape it on, get my assistant to tape the gloves on my hands, place the crown on me to proclaim myself Zombie King and then kick me out the door to rule my subjects in a musical mass of meandering monsters. What about you, Flick?"

Flick: "I was thinking of breaking your ankle and running, but now? I'm definitely doing that. Nice knowing you!"

I perform a public service by distracting the undead and become ruler of the largest, fastest-growing and easiest-to-govern population in history and I still get no respect.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Now that 'MURICA day is over, I'm planning on spending most of tomorrow playing Axis and Allies.

With beer, of course.

Maybe we'll finish the game. Maybe we'll finish the game without tears. Maybe we'll finish the game without someone "nuking the world" (classic bad-sportsmanship).

And maybe I'll win the lottery riding a unicorn.

It's been a good week and a bit.

Last weekend:
We had a great evening for Wolfy's birthday. We got drunk with him, Starling (who is over for a holiday) and a bunch of other friends. There was much barbecue and I got to make a fire :)

Last week:
Got a few extra shifts from work, which is always nice on the wallet.

This weekend just gone:
Had a long shift saturday, then spent a nice evening at Shiara's parent's place which culminated in us yelling/being annoyed at stupid politicians on Q&A.
Sunday we spent pretty much all day at the Abbey Medieval Festival. It was a fun day.
  • Watched a bunch of people (a couple of friends included) dressed in armour beat each other up with axes and swords and shit
  • Saw someone who does hawking (as in uses trained birds to kill/scare shit) showing off all four birds. From a fairly small hawk of some sort all the way up to a wedge tailed eagle
  • Looked at lots of cool stuff I can't afford, but want.
  • Ate a huge, tasty lamb shank off the bone with my hands
  • Drank mead
  • Had some delicious venison sausage and pie
  • Watched lots of random people jump whenever the cannons on the other side of the festival were fired :p

I've also had some fun playing Dust 514 during their x3 Skill Points thing, some Warframe during their Spy Drone long event and fit in a tiny bit of FFXIV: Realm Reborn beta.
And coming up this week; Silencer is coming to stay for a bit and we are all headed down the coast for a friend's wedding

^ Was just coming here to post about how excited I am for my short holiday + wedding trip! :) :p

Going to be great to have a slightly extended break from work, and catch up with the super awesome people over the Tasman. And I'll probably be returning to a revised position at work with better hours, the return of a REAL WEEKEND and (fingers crossed) a raise. So hopefully this will be a nearly perfect week.

And serve it to a pig
And though it hurts, you'll laugh

Just had a text from my brother saying his wifes waters broke & his baby will be coming soon! I'm going to be a creepy weird uncle that always shows up at events that no one remembers inviting or even mentioning the event to him but here he is anyway, drinking the expensive wine!
