I have tried to lurk around here for it, but for some obscure reason I can't find any thread for this. Therefore I decided to make one.

So, here we go.
Here you SHALL post any or all of your favourite quotes from any of the MBotF books.
There's got to be more mindblowing quotes in this series than any other series out there, including Terry Pratchett, so it's time to gather the best of them in one place.

Now, I should of course be a good threadstarter, and lead by example. However, I'm afraid I have not done my homework regarding this. So I don't have more than a handful...at hand at the moment. My hope is that some of you might best me at this, and if many adds a little each, we end up with alot (or that's the general idea at least).

The first quote in this thread should of course be dedicated to Tehol and Bugg, the most quote-worthy couple of them all.

---------
"Indeed Bugg. is it because, do you think, at the human core, we are naught but liars and cheats?"
"Probably."
"With no hope of ever overcoming our instinctive nastiness?"
"Hard to say. How have we done so far?"
----------------

---------
"Wise words are like arrows flung at your forehead. What do you do? Why, you duck of course."
----------------

---------
"An item that passes without provenance, pursued by many who thirst for it's cold kiss, on which life and all that lay within life are often gambled. Alone, a beggar's crown. In great numbers, a king's folly. Weighted with ruin, yet blood washes from it beneath the lightest rain, and to the next no hint of its cost."
----------------

Well, that was what I had right now. Not the best ones, I'm sure, but definitly worthy of notice. I am currently in the middle of re-reading the entire series (always do that when a new book comes. Read the new book, and then reread the entire series + the new book afterwards), so I will be on the lookout for more great poetry, philosophy or just plain good shit. Meanwhile, go ahead and post!

Oh, and as you can see, I am new here, so "Hi everyone! Nice to meet yah".

P.s: If a thread like this should exist somewhere, having avoided my searching gaze, just delete this one without further notice. Or if this one is posted in the wrong place (I have a feeling it might be at that), just move it would you? Thanks honey.

Quote

"Fucking dragon."

Fid, RG

Quote

"Okay, the goat stank of desperation."

QB, MOI

Oh, and welcome. Post away.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

In... GotM I believe...

"The Empress expects obedience of her servants, and demands loyalty."
"Any reasonable ruler would have the expectation and the demand the other way round."

This sticks in my head because I just read it:

'You have poisoned this tea, Buruk.' The words slurred.
'Had to, Seren Pedac. Since last night. I can't have you thinking clearly. Not right now. You'll sleep again. One of the dockhands will waken you tonight - I will make sure of that, and that you're safe.'
'Is this another...another betrayal?' She felt herself sagging on the bench.
'My last, dear. Remember this, if you can. I didn't want your help.'
'My...help.'
'Although,' he added from a great distance, 'you have always held my heart.'

From Midnight Tides. On reflection, Buruk the Pale is one of my favourite characters. So sad, all those hints leading up to what he would do.

I LOVE that quote from Bult. Serves it RIGHT up the ass of those of superior intellect.

This one is great:

"Raining bird-meat. Burning feathers."
"Is that worse than burning hairshirt, Spin?"

Cracks me up.
Suck it Errant!

"It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum...and I'm all out of gum."

QUOTE (KeithF @ Jun 30 2009, 09:49 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

This dialogue between Adjunct Lorn and Onos Tool'an in GoTM is just profound methinks:

Quote

'Tell me, Tool, what dominates your thoughts?'
The Imass shrugged before replying. 'I think of futility, Adjunct.'
'Do all Imass think about futility?'
'No. Few think at all.'
'Why is that?'
The Imass leaned his head to one side and regarded her. 'Because Adjunct, it is futile.'
'Let's get going, Tool. We're wasting time.'
'Yes, Adjunct.'

Many other priceless gems from Tehol and Bugg, but then those are obvious picks...

Oh and I second the 'goat' quote :)

From the Paran and Hood concersation in TBH

Quote

"You can't be serious!"
"Death is always serious"

Or this one from MT

Quote

Iron Bars:"Hood's balls!"
Shurq Elalle:"Who's Hood?"
Silchas Ruin:"The Lord of Death and yes he has balls".

Adept of Team Quick Ben

I greet you as guests and so will not crush the life from you and devour your soul with peals of laughter. No, instead, I will make tea-Gothos

There are quite a few of these in various forum parts, Taxi... ha... (lol me!) and you're right, a thread for anything from any book should be in the latest book's section (ie: TtH), otherwise quotes from the later books can't be used as it's spoiling.
Here's the latest one in the TtH thread and visit the Inn and introduce yourself in the 'New Members' thread. You'll instantly be groped by the more immoral Malazites. :)
It's fun... honest! :)
Oh, and most people are agreed; "I'd kill the mule!" wins. Every time. :)

And 'Hi'!

"Now, now. Quarters are cramped and nerves are frayed and Ublala's cramped brain is fraying our nerves without quarter..."

By the maestro, Tehol Beddict.

So, this is my first post ever. Not just here, but online ever, period.

Tried to post in a few other threads but ended up getting cold feet, so I figured this would be a simple way to ease into the pool.
