it's been a while since I've done any Erikson work cuz I tend to draw what I'm reading at the time and I'm reading the Horus heresy books which are pretty cool, however I'm on the last book and toll the hound in next, I just finished a sketch o' Rhulad and thought I'd jazz it up on the old computer,

Dude, you are awesome. The nearly all black, white and gray really makes the blood stand out on Rhulad. I can't see Icarium's canines jutting out, he looks way more human that I usually picture him. That actually looks alot like I would picture Graymane. Still kicks butt though.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Aye, the one of Rhulad really captures the character. I'm not so sure about Icarium, though the drawing is good in its own right

aye a one bladed curved sward sound like a katana to me and as for looking human or along those lines read reapers gale, I don't know how to do the black box spoiler thingy so I'll leave it at that, but hes supposed to look like hes been a roaming for a while, so I tried to give him a shamanish look with the promise of powerful secrets ooooooooh! anyways I just finished a sketch of a squad mage nothing fancy just jotting down an idea of what a typical one looks like in my head

If you add any more colour to the first one, remember that Rhulad's coins are all gold. And there are plenty of other cool looking curved one-handed swords, you know. Sounds a bit sharp, but I just dislike katanas.

Those are some brilliant pictures.

Can you take some very minor constructive critisms, though?

On Rhulad's picture the hilt of his sword is a bit off, the blade looks like it's coming towards you... and so does the hilt. the elipses of the pommel and details should be the other way around so they're heading away? And Icarium's, his sword dangly bits are blowing to the right while everything else is blowing left.

Anyway, like i said, minor things.

Amazing pictures. :eek:

I don't know why but I always pictured Icarium much less muscled than that. Sorta like a Pau Gasol type of shape for those who follow basketball.

For some reason I picture him bald. Don't know why, I just do. With a gaunt face and prominent cheekbones and large tusks.

Rhulad looks wicked!

but Icarium doesn't look like Icarium, although it's a very good drawing.

Icarium has black and grey hair, green-gray skin and visible tusks I believe.

Things and stuffs...and other important objects.

well, his hair is about as black and gray as a pencil will allow, I don't use colored pencils and his tusks are visible you just have to look closer, i have a dream people! it's an icarium one and it looks like this

off the hook sir. I really like Rhulad...the atmosphere and pose are great. There is something a little off in the Leg-body proportion though...can't pinpoint it exactly, they just look not-quite-attached or something.

Icarium...a bit to WoW/anime-ish...but cool nonetheless. Mainly the pose, it's hard to describe, but it just seems a bit of a clichÃ©'d pose. I'd like to see you tackle another one of him powering up.

Don't get me wrong with the criticism though, I really like both. The colors in the rhulad one especially are fantastic. I wouldn't touch it actually. Maybe a bit of gold on the coins...but nothing to take away from the cool contrast you achieved with the pencil sketch and the single blood red color.
