In my reading of the series up and including RG I have generally tried to keep track of most of what I see as essential to the plot - not only following it, but understanding it. If I do that well enough I can make some reasonable predictions of what might happen next. But there has been one group, critical to the whole series, but generally MIA, that I have no fucking clue about at all - the Eleint.

So....could some one give me a bit of a summary? I know they're dragons, their warren is (dead) or at least most of THEM are dead, but questions abound...

1. Which of the Eleint, both dead and alive, have been located, and where are they?

2. Which of them remains alive (only Sillanna?)

3. What's their game? What stakes are they fighting for? Do they have allies?

I've read this thread and it has peripherally answered some questions, but raised others. I think there's a very accurate prediction in that series of posts which...
Spoiler

If all this info is posted elsewhere please just point me at it. And finally...any pet theories about what's going to happen with/to them - and what will be the consequences?

Spoiler

Also, if you have read TtH, why post this question here?

I have not read TtH. I have read many of the TtH spoilers (impaired impulse control). And thank you for the response.

Knowing outcomes, at least with these books, tells me almost nothing about the story. So what if what's his name hits whosit in the noggin with the lead pipe in the ballroom? How did they both end up in the ball room to begin with? :p

I'm going to start the whole series again with a different (WTF the dragons up to?) purpose.

And - any ideas about who drank the blood of the Otataral Dragon, and how that blood mixed with Otataral affected the drinker? If the answer is in TtH I'll read it for myself; but if it remains a legitimate question, just begging for a theory - have at 'er.

Why are there TtH spoilers in the RG forum? I'm pretty sure nothing vital has been said, but let's not take this any further please.

Read this topic because I, too, have some confusion over the Eleint.

So far as I know, having never read TtH that nothing in that book has been revealed here. Has there? It seems that anything that *could* be has been spoilered.

It is exactly because I'm confused about the Eleint that I posed the questions. And I very much appreciate the list of dragons - have rep.

So far as we know are the Eleint disengaged from the conflict with the CG? If not, how are they fighting against him?

And at the risk of sounding like a complete moron - who killed all the dragons in the SD warren? And, and, and...has the release of their blood had any deep-seated effect on magic (of any sort)? Finally - any theorires about what will happen to the person who drank the Otataral-tainted blood of Serrit? Possessing, but immune to magic?

Part of the info to answer that question is in this quote...

Quote

‘So we are within a realm?’ Feather Witch asked. ‘Which Hold claims this place?’

(Imass speak)

‘Ulshun is pleased you understand Holds. He is bright-gem-eye. Pleased, and surprised. He calls this Hold Starvald Demelain.’

‘I do not know that name,’ she said, scowling. The T’lan Imass spoke again, and in the words Udinaas sensed a list. Then more lists, and in hearing the second list, he began to recognize names.

The boy shrugged. ‘T’iam, Kalse, Silannah, Ampelas, Okaros, Karosis, Sorrit, Atrahal, Eloth, Anthras, Kessobahn, Alkend, Karatallid, Korbas… Olar. Eleint. Draconean. Dragons. The Pure Dragons. The place where the road comes from is closed. By the mixed bloods who gathered long ago. Draconus, K’rul, Anomandaris, Osserc, Silchas Ruin, Scabandari, Sheltatha Lore, Sukul Ankhadu, and Menandore. It was, he says, Menandore who saved me.’ The boy’s eyes suddenly widened. ‘She didn’t look like a dragon!’
...which is extracted from this thread...http://www.malazanempire.com/forums/showth...hlight=Starvald

Much info there, but the questions remain. Any new thoughts from those who posted in that referenced thread?

If this turns into another bitch-fest about spoilers I'll fucking well...cut off my left tit.

Interesting that K'rul is listed as a mixed blood...
And yes, there is one, tiny spoiler from TtH, inside spoiler tags (I chicked and put all inso
ide spoiler tags, the actual spoiler is hardly a line).

I don't think there will be any more such spoilers, so don't worry :p.

Olar is Imass for Eleint, given the ... after Korbas in the list, Olar is the start of the next sentence. The implication that Olar Ethil is pureblood eleint like the preceeding listed names in the quote is incorrect IMO. Bonecasters take a pre-fix according to the shape they semble into, in Ethil's case, it's a dragon(undead) hence the Olar (another example would be Ay Estos, a wolf(Ay) bonecaster from MoI and Pran Chole (pran = fox). I've got a feeling Eleint as a word is from the Tiste language/s. Draconean perhaps from FE human dialect which has debased down to Dragon in modern human common.

Hmmm can anyone remember what the dragons that were cruising through the warren of fire looked like when the Silanda rocked through and got Stormy and Gessler and co. all shiny. We know now from what Beak said that they were buffing up their hides with some extra magic resistance type stuff or something like that. Did any colours on the dragons get mentioned? That might give us some clues to identity considering Sorrit and his blueness/sky link. It's been a while since I last read it. Or am I misremembering and it was the time they ran into Olar Ethil? I'm sure it was two seperate occurances. It's harder than I thought trying to remember when all the different dragon sightings specifically have popped up over 8 books.

Edit: bonehunter changed to bonecaster, forgive my dyslexic brain fart. :p Thanks Skywalker

(insert pedantic bear image)

Um... for the record... the Imass shamans are Bonecasters. Tavore's former 14th Army are the Bonehunters

OT - we know from MT and RG that there was a huge war between the pure-blood Eleint and the Soletaken Eleint (inexorably tied up with Rake killing and Rake + Ruin + Scabandari + Osserc etc. drinking blood from Tiam's skanky-ho tum tum.). We know there was a 'last flight of dragons' all seeking to escape Starvald Demelain, but the Soletaken all locked the gate and threw away the key...

We know events at the end of RG have put an Azath at this same gate, and the Imass bonecaster that was doing the block maintenance on the gate is now gone for good....

More details on the Draconian civil war and the repercussions of the new Azath house are one assumes, forthcoming in DoD

Yeah the first post after the original post was spoiler tagged shortly after I made my comment, even though it clearly didn't look like it was anything all that important in the book. But thanks for tagging anyways.

Has anybody brought up those 3 dragons flying in formation that Fid and them saw in the Dead House Azath. Don't know if we'll ever know which ones they were, but the seemed to be heading to battle as per the observers.

They were all the same dull brown colour, which makes me think they were just feral dragons who escaped imprisonment in Starvald Demelain..
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

In GotM, we saw the Demon Lord veer into a dragon and it was dun brown and big. Maybe these dragons were soletaken demons?

I suppose if all the Tiste Andii soletaken-eleint veer into black dragons, then it is truly plausible that all Galayn soletaken-eleint might veer into dun brown dragons...

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
