I say give him a chance. He may very well cock it up majorly. But with the Cast and money at his disposal, The movie he has made has more chances of being good then bad.

I am less concerned about the McG issue than I was. He accepts that his previous movies are making people worried and seems to be saying "wait until you see the movie". I can't decide if his involvement in Supernatural makes me feel better or worse about it. Mainly because I can't decide if Supernatural is smart or stupid... I have a feeling the movie is going to be either monumentally brilliant or absolutely awful, with no inbetween. Although, anything less than monumentally brilliant will equal awful due to my expectation levels.

I have been trying to avoid reading the stuff about the Marcus Wright storyline. [my hypothesis on his character, not really a spoiler but more info than if you haven't read much hype -->]

I'm assuming that he's going to be like a Battlestar Galactica sleeper Cylon, sent back from further in the future. There HAS to be some kind of machine sent back, right?!

I would be disappointing with that outcome. I would like to see a complete break away from that formula, which has become something of a sham. If they can send these guys back all the time, why not send an army of robots to do the job. In the first film it was explained away with the time machine was destroyed. I forget what happened in T2, and T3 is a bit of a blur. But either way, It's a major plot hole that needs to be left out of the new movie.

Marcus Wright could be an Amazing character. I can even see him becoming more central then John Connor.

I think T2 and T3 opted not to explain where they found their time displacement equipment after the lab was destroyed in T1!

Do you think there will be any "bad" humans who take the side of the machines for their own survival or will it be cut and dried, man vs machines?

I think for sure there are going to be bad humans. There are ALWAYS bad humans.

I have no idea how they are going to be able to do it in a believable way however. Basic survival doesn't cut it in the setting, as once all the other humans are dead, the robots will just kill the betrayers.

And the save your family type scenario is overplayed.

I've thought about it way too much already. I'm just lining myself up for disappointment.

Bah, I wished I hadn't seen the new trailer. That just revealed more or less the entire film right there. But I agree, this Marcus guy sounds interesting. Might overshadow bales character though.

What really annoys me is, if they are going the way I think they're going with the Marcus I'm pissed off. I've been working on a storyline with machines and living beings merging in my book project and it seems as though they've nailed my take on it. Typical-

I haven't watched that trailer but I just saw one before Watchmen which I assume is the most recent. I don't think they are showing anything more than is apparent if you think about it though (apart from Marcus and it seems the story was unofficially leaked early on so I think they are having to go with what has already been spoilered). To avoid fan boy crucifiction they have to include:

1. Nuclear apocalypse
2. Humans in camps
3. Resistance
4. He meets Kyle Reese - can't wait for him to give Reese the picture of his mother as it is seeling Reese' fate but also, the kids going to get off on a photo of your mother. Euwww.

The additions are - Marcus Wright and "changes in the timeline my mother never predicted". It is those that must be the real story. McG may have a stupid name, but he can't be THAT stupid, can he?!?! They showed that Arnie was a good Terminator in the final trailers for T2 so it doesn't have to be a biggy.

SEE! I am setting myself up for the hugest fall here.

Yeah, it is. The trailer I saw before Watchmen (in the UK), was a different one, with no Marcus Wright at all.

I am still dying to see it. Bale + Terminators + lack of emotion = hopeful Yellow. I'm not a big fan of cheesy dialogue, but here's hoping me and the reviewer like different types of films I mean, he actually toyed with the concept that I might not have seen the first three films, so there's definitely something wrong with him...

When's this thing out, anyway?

Read a few reviews...they all say something along the lines of that the action sequences are awesome but the story sucked.
Looks like they are setting up a trilogy with characters like John connor being in the same place at the end of the film than at the beginning. So in fact nothing really happens as far as his story goes. They go as far as to say that this film isnt about john conner and he is a spectator really..

problem is if its before kyle goes back, then john cant die, and fromt he snippet i read kyle is only a boy or a young man in this movie.
