Awesome Quotes, That Are Awesome, From TTH

Most of the big ones have probably been done... so I'll settle with awesome-but-not-as-much:
"Gruntle turned, glared at Gisp. 'Go to Hood, you four. Now.'
The drivers promptly slumped, sliding or tottering from their perches."
"Thank you, Raest, for the kick in the head." (p. 89)
"Gods, it's spectacular ! Why, I can't call you sliverfishy anymore, can I ? More like... a salmon ! Charging upstream !" (p. 126)
"'There are some poisons', Picker said, 'that kill the person next to the one who took it.'" (p. 153) - I think that's actually the line that made me laugh the most.
"As Kruppe ever says, it is a wise ox that gets the yoke." (p. 167) ...not.
"- Which among our newfound allies do you imagine the weak link ? [...]
- Well, you, of course.
- Apart from me, I mean.
Cotillion stared. Shadowthrone waited. Fidgeting on the throne." (p. 173)
"- Desra, [...] give the man some water.
- After he called me a bitch ?
- After you tried poisoning him with kelyk, yes." (p. 198)
"- There are a dozen wards sealing the cellar - twice as many as at your last visit.
- Indeed ?
- You did not trip a single one." (p. 398)

The Second pops out of Dragnipur, grabs his spear from Cutter, charges the Hounds of Lights and...
"Skinner,I'm coming for you...but first, these guys!"
The Second/Knight/Soldier stole every scene he was in.
- Abyss, notes apparently he DID find Hood a wife in the end...

@Abyss, so right about the second. he's like will ferrel on SNL, really wanna see more of this guy.
on re-read no. 1, came upon this gem in the third chapter, pg.66, Scorch and Leff at the docks when Leff eats the conch.
Scorch: "it's a thing with eyes on the ends of its tentacles, watching as you cut its body apart - see how the stalks swivel, following up to your mouth, tracking every swallow? it's watching you eat it!"
Leff: "So?"
comedy gold.

Kallor EDIT: real quotes added.
another Kallor bit
~Kruppe, because that death had the most impact on me in the book.
Quote
Did you think it was my intention to murder Whiskey Jack? Do you think I just cut down honourable men and loyal soldiers out of spite? ... They got in my way, damn you! Just as you're doing now! ...
The Tiste andii's faint smile nearly broke Kallor's heart. No, he understands. All to well. This will be his last battle, in Rake's name, and anyone's name.
Kallor drew out his sword. "Does it occur, to any of you, what these things do to me? No, of course not. the High King is cursed to fail, but never to fall. the High King is but... What? Oh, the physical manifestiation of ambition. Walking proof of its inevitable price. Fine." he readied his two handed weapon.
"Fuck you, too".

Quote
It seemed this was a night for killing Tiste Andii.
Quote
The notion of witnessing the procession in the city was proving too ... unpalatable. Kallor despised funerals.
Celebrations of failure. Wallowing in pathos. Every Living sould standing there forced to stare into mortality's grinning face- no, that was not for Kallor
" He preferred kicking that piss-grinning, shit -reeking bastard face, right between the fucking eyes."
The tavern was empty, since it seemed no one else shared his sentiments, and that was fine with him. It had always been fine with him.
Or so he told himself, as he stared down into his stolen tankard of bad ale, and listened to those infernal bells and those oversized vultures. And that chorus was hauntingly familiar. Death, ruin, grief.
"Hear that?" he said to his tankard, "they're playing our song".

"A T'Lan Imass with odd legs", said Raest. "It seemed to harbour some dislike towards me." The Jaghut paused. "I can't imagine why."

In any case, It's still too angry for conversation." Another pause. "But there's time."

Quote
I will do this. None other need be burdened with this journey. It shall be Caladan Brood and Anamonder Rake, together one last time.
Quote
"If you so want Hood," he said, " Come and get him"
....
To all who witness - the cultists, Samar Dev, Karsa orlong, even unto the five Hounds of Shadow and the Great Ravens hunched on every ledge - that first clash of weapons was too fast to register. Sparks slandted, the night air rang with savage parries, counter blows, the biting crunch of edges against cross-hilts. Even their bodies were but a blur.
....
"No. Only a fool would step between these two"
and the Toblakai sounded... shaken

"No." He moved to where Antsy stood and with one hand pushed the Falari away from the ox, grasping hold of the yoke. "I will do this. None other need be burdened with this journey. It shall be Caladan Brood and Anomander Rake, together one last time."
That bit made me tear up. The only bit that did.

After the scene where Dev'ad Anan Tol retrieves his weapons, he thinks/it is stated that:
Far later, when Antsy and Barathol dumps Chaur in the Finnest house, this scene comes.
Lol, bloody elaborate joke
.
Quote
The gods are fools, because it doesn't occur to them that not everyone uses paths.
Far later, when Antsy and Barathol dumps Chaur in the Finnest house, this scene comes.
Quote
"And there, in the yard, was a fresh mound of raw earth, steaming. Vines were visibly snaking over it. 'Gods below,' the Falari whispered, making a warding gesture with one hand.
'A T'lan Imass with odd legs ,' said Raest. 'It seemed to harbour some dislike towards me.' The Jaghut paused. 'I can't imagine why.'
Antsy grunted. 'It should have stayed on the path.'

Man, There are so many quotes to choose from,
I just edited my earlier post and added a bunch in,
tomorrow I will try to find some more of my favorites to add, because I know some Kallor scenes had some more, there are also some more worth putting that take place in Dragonspur.

The one scene where Gorlas Vidikas (sp., my books are in anther house) has what he thinks of as a vision from the gods, right before he gets himself offed by Cutter.
Reread that closely, and you realize that it's a mimicry of Kruppe's first scene in GotM, where he meets with six people, and the seventh is hanging from a tree which he passes by in disdain. The seventh is, of course, humility, which Gorlas would have done well to possess.
(That's more a scene than a quote, but good nevertheless).
I also liked Samar Dev's realization while looking at the standing stones that some history will simply never be known, but is utterly and absolutely lost forever. The lament of an archaeologist, there.

I think I must be the only person that actually hated the 'I shall call it Tufty' quote from Raest. It just didn't seem to fit into my conception of Reast at all.
Also, why a dead cat? And how fortunate that Antsy literally stumbled over it just when they needed it...
The whole thing just didn't work for me.
Quotes that I did like:
'I see no value in modest ambitions, witch' - Karsa Orlong.
This one just sums up Karsa for me in, ironically, a modest way.
'There is no struggle too vast, no odds too overwhelming, for even should we fail - should we fall - we will know that we have lived.' - Anomander Rake.

I didn't think it was as funny as some here obviously found it. I thought it was trying a bit too hard, really. But it raised a half-smile.
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

That quote also made me think of the new Foreword to GotM where Erikson is talking about when he first pitched the idea of his massive 10 book series to the publishers - and they told him to try something less ambitious. I don't have an exact quote (only read it in the bookshop...) but SE has a little rant about how they seemed to be telling him to be less ambitious - as if mediocrity is something to be desired. Why did they *not* want something brilliant and ambitious?
